The Shiv is made of CPM 3V. It is an 8" modern combat fighter that is built to tolerate extremely rough use in demanding environments but is thin enough to cut. It was originally developed as a combat knife but has also been popular with pig hunters.

THESE ARE SOLD, THANK YOU

One of these have a double edge point.

The edge thickness before sharpening on these was .015"-.020" and it was sharpened at 20 degrees per side, so they are meat eaters. But you can really wail on it, you're not going to break it.

See video below.

The handle is ergonomically designed for a standard forward, reverse, saber and pinch grips for an average to relatively large hand. The tang is internally skeletonized. The scales are 3D sculpted CNC machined. The blade is made of ¼” 3V with a heat treat that has been optimized to maximize edge stability in insanely rough use. The blade has a swedge grind that creates distal taper and deep fullers that, together with the skeletonized tang, create a relatively light weight package (10.7 oz) that is supremely well balanced with thoughtful and deliberate distribution of mass that gives it a surprisingly light and lively feel in the hand without sacrificing tip strength.

The steel, Crucible CPM 3V, is a high performance particle metallurgy super steel with extremely high impact and torsional toughness. The heat treat has been tweaked to improve edge stability and edge retention. In this application it will easily tolerate abuse such as aggressive prying, punching holes in sheetmetal, cutting iron wire and even chopping through cinderblock. It is not stainless, but it has pretty good corrosion resistance.

Specs for the 8" Shiv:
CPM 3V, tested 60 HRC, .235” thick at ricasso
Total length 12.75”
Edge length 7.5”
Weight 11 oz
Extra grippy 3D machined scales
Black oxide treated 18-8 stainless steel fasteners

David Brown Kydex sheaths with TecLoc are custom made for the Shiv and are well designed and well made.

Jared Corry sheaths are custom made for the Field Knives and are well designed and well made. They can be worn vertical or horizontal and can be configured for left hand or right hand carry.

Rather than just take my word for it I made a video to illustrate the unusual durability of this knife:

All knives include a good kydex sheath

$225 in micarta, black or brown
$235 in solid color G10, black, OD green, blue
$245 in multi color G10, OD green/black, toxic green/black, brown/black, orange/black

#2 is an 8" field grade Shiv in black diamond cut micarta scales. The point is double edge and cuts in both directions. Not legal in some areas. $310 SOLD

#3 is an 8" field grade Shiv in OD green G10 diamond cut scales. $305 SOLD

#4 is an 8" field grade Shiv in black and brown multi color fine scallop cut G10 scales. $315 SOLD

If you want a different sheath I have SpecOps Combat Master Sheaths in their standard colors. They are M.O.L.L.E. compatible and jump certified.

Shipping in the USA is $5.

These knives are unusual because they are machined. I do this in my shop on industrial CNC machine tools. A WIP thread documenting their construction can be found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1048443

I take paypal, cash, check or MO.

I posted some kitchen knives over here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Five-6-quot-Kitchen-Utility-Vegetable-Knives

Thanks for looking,
Nathan

Is double edge legal where you live?

I just wrote you an email, and will write you another one from my bladeforums account to verify my other email account.

Ha I went away for a few minutes and it was posted and sold. Ah well 😞 Maybe they can get the production numbers up or do a preorder. I'd gladly wait a few months if I knew I was definitely getting one.

Damn. I'm never going to get a Field Knife since I can't set and stair at the computer all day.

I am sorry about that. I know it is a problem. We're working on addressing the bottle neck and we have more 3V on order.

We were able to do sales of 20 at a time a few times this year with good results. Those are nice because there is no hurry. I'm trying to get us where we can do that again.

I'll take #4

#4 is an 8" field grade Shiv in black and brown multi color fine scallop cut G10 scales. $315

Nathan, thanks for offering handle options. Do that again... Sorry I missed field knife. I just got off work. I will try again.

Nice work. Do you ship to the UK ?

Yes, but with the understanding that on international shipments I can't be responsible for a package after it leaves my shop.

I'm in Scotland, I bought a 3V field knife from the Carothers and it got to me without a hitch.

Really good people to deal with.
