Three by Steve R. Johnson....

No question about it ,SRJ builds a helluva knife! I've had the pleasure of hanging out with him at a few shows and he is an awesome guy!

That Long Bolster Hide Out, and the Big Bear are off the Hook!

Your right Ken. Steve is a Great Guy! In fact I just got a little something from Steve off the brown truck for Christmas. He sent me some Soldering Flux to try. We're putting our heads together on some age old soldering issues. Hope it works out. If it does, we will be telling the other makers about our findings, and how we are getting there.

I agree. I had the opportunity to meet Steve and have been communicating through e-mails since he joined the CKCA. Besides being a heck of a knifemaker he's a heck of a nice guy as well.

Steve is definitely a class act. He has always answered all of my questions whether via emial or telephone. Anyone interested in meeting him should stop by his table at ECCkS in Feb here in NYC.

Here is the last one for a while.Anyone interested in chatting some more about Steve's work or see some more pics just let me know.

Matt

P.S. sorry about the quality of the photo, but you get the idea...

Here is the second of a new designed fighter Steve made for me,
named after me - "David's Fighter" - and added the
Star of David to his logo, (also for me..... :))

Barry Lee Hands later engraved and gold inlaid the knife - making it
also a first ever gold inlaying in the exhibition quality MOP.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

For those of you who don't follow the "Maker's Mark" Thread,
but admire Steve Johnson's knife art, here is a collection of
almost all of his logo-mark etches....

All the best,

Agreed. Dr. Darom, thank you so much for your fantastic books. They open the door to a world of knives that many of us wouldn't even know exists. I look forward to your 2010 publication of Knife Art.

The engaving and gold inlay on the MOP of your fighter are outstanding. That is indeed "Knife Art".

Here is another maker's mark you can add to the collection:

Thanks Asher! I think Steve mentioned his mirror image mark to me
once, and I completely forgot about it!

Wow! Some excellent knives and photos. The books are great to have!!! Thanks so much for sharing.

Is it possible to blow those pics up? I'd love to see the detail.

Thanks for posting the pics.

Here are four truly one-of-a-kind Steve Johnsons, each with
a unique maker's etch.

I love this thread. Very stunning knives, and they are all usable designs. Thanks for sharing David, and everyone else as well. Merry Christmas.

That is a great set. It looks like a stubby drop point, semi-skinner and a 'Chute. Can't say I've seen anything like it anywhere before. Awesome set!

Dr. Darom, I would do anything to get those 'Chute variations. I was just looking at that picture and those knives are all incredible. I love the Archer 'Chute and the variation on top with the outline of Italy in Steve's mark.

Happy Holidays!

I am not surprised, Asher, that you have never seen anything
like these knives - there are no others like them!! :)
