three dot 110

I'm not positive that 3 dots were only made for one year, but the 4 dot mark signified a change in blade steel.

That is my understanding as well; changed to 425 with the 4 dot in 1981 I think.

Seems to be sort of a grey area. I figure it must be either 440C or 425M.

imafritz, I will post a picture when I get it in hand, but it's just a plain old everyday looking 110. Just happened on it this morning for the price of a Wally world 110. I already had one, but it's used and no box.

I may be wrong, and would have to check with my 110 cheat sheet at home, but I bellieve the three dot had 425 steel.

Yes, the Buck 110 three dot was the last year with 440C steel blade.

I have one also,,, they are not that common due to manuf. for only 1 or possibly 2 years. This was 1980-82 in the older data charts from about 10 years ago.

The four dot is definitely changed to 425M steel. This is listed as approx. 1982-85. The four dot was made with both the square edge frame and the newer rounded edges frame.

I see more four dot knives for sale than the three dots, it may be different in your location.

I agree w/ you FG on all points.Even George Stinzel said at the 20yr. reunion and I think its in the dvd's as well. "That the 3 dots were mfg. into 1981."
I see more 4 dots as well out here. This does substantiate the thinking, that there were more 4 dots mfg. than 3 dots. DM

I figgered you must not have it yet.:( We'll always take pics:thumbup: I'm esp interested because just yesterday I was lamenting that I had no NIB or mint older 110's and I need one. Havent really seen any nib in the bay and supposed mint have been so-so.

I just happened to be checking when it popped up on Ebay. The seller actually listed as having two of them BIN @ $24.99 each plus $4.95 shipping. When I asked about a combined shipping price, she realized she had listed wrong. I was going to jump on both of them but there was actually only one.:(

So what youre sayin is you got a true antique(or at least rare classic) brand new for $30?...It's good to be Plumberdv:D:D:D

OMG! Something from the early '80's being consided an antique! Jeez, that makes me positively Jurassic! Heck I'm still wearing clothes I bought longer ago than that. :p

Has anyone ever seen a three dot 110 with CHAMPION on the knife, and the sheath? On the sheath it will be where you would normally see BUCK on the flap. HL
