thrift store scores...

...Heck I've never even seen a frog spear in real life!...

I have been seeing them all my life... I just didn't know they call them frog spears! Somehow I thought that guys in USA would just blast them with .50 caliber sniper rifle... you save a lot of time not picking up the dead bodies! :D:D Oh well, maybe even getting more drastic just blowing up the whole pond.. that should do it as well. :D :D

Ok ok, just kidding. Here they are sold usually with spear fishing equipment. When I started spearfishing there were some kids whose parent's didn't trust them with a spear gun and just got them one of those. They just got some octopus, maybe squids and some "flat fish" (you know, the ones that swim close to the bottom and blend with the sand and stuff... I don't know how do you call them). Anything faster than that was impossible to get.

I have hit a lot of local 2nd hand shops around the area, but none as of late. Some of my best scores have been a new EMS Blackfoot backpack for $10 (Identical to the one my wife bought me in 1990 for $200!), a lnib Victorinox Farmer for $4, and a Kershaw Model 1005 Survival blade I picked up at a local Pawn shop for $25. (Sold on eBay for $175 so I could pick up a Gossman or two :) )

Other scores include 100 GlowSticks (4 hour) NIB for $5 from a local charity yardsale, and a bunch (30) of tee-shirts that were miss printed for $6. And a coleman 2 burner stove for free cause the guy didnt feel like packing it up on our yardsale days. :)

wow MC.. those are some good scores for sure.... i've heard of some folks finding some randall made knives, at thrift stores and flea markets... now that would be a good find...:o

I love thrift stores..... excellent pick ups....I am always hunting the elusive bargin/quality outdoor gear... Thrift stores are awesome !!

Great score! The local thrift shop keeps butcher knives in a box by themselves. In the last year I have gotten several Old Hickory, Case, Opinel, and a Henckels set that included a steel. The real steal….they sell for $.35 - $.50 each

A friend that posts here under his own name walked out of a Bay Area antique store last year with a large Bob Loveless 'Delaware Made' camp style knife in great shape....for $30

My all time top find was a Randall Model 10 utility knife mixed in with kitchen cutlery. O1 alloy blade was a bit tarnished, but definitely work over $100 and I bought it for 99 cents.

Just bought a like new sleeping bag at the goodwill for four bucks. Dont know the brand. Made in the USA , has a deer logo. Nylon shell.
