If I posted the pics that I wanted to, I'd be banned in a heartbeat. I've got no problem whatsoever processing animals, my family has done hogs for literally decades, and we still do it ourselves, from the rooter to the tooter! We use everything but the squeal.

Now I'm wondering exactly how seal does taste.... Fishy, I'll bet.... I'll have to put Scandinavia on my future travel list!

NoFair, at the winter Olympics in Norway a group of Norwegians stayed in an igloo they made , were eating whale steak but with a modern concession - a cell phone !! We could tell people that whale tastes better than lutefisk !!

Up here in the Canadian North, they kill seals both for the furs and for food. Seal is a favourite "country food" (what the local inuit call any type of traditional food) of several of my friends, and it has been served to the inmates many times at the jail I work at.
I couldn't bring my self to try it though, it smelled like fish and looked like liver.
One guys was telling me not to shoot it in the head, because the brain is the best part, espically still warm, but be careful shooting it in the body mass or it could sink on you.
Just a few tips for anyone who wants to hunt one.

Why did that fellow kill a sea lion?

Dunno that particular story but right now, wild salmon numbers are critically low so the commercial fishing season has been cancelled in order to give the fish a chance to repopulate. Commercial fishermen are really hurting from this.

Because seals and other large marine mammals eat salmon, fishermen blame them for stealing their livelihood.

There has been many reported butcherings of seals, sea lions and other mammals along the California coast lately. It's pretty sad.

seals are predators, their exploding numbers in the east coast have negatively effected both Atlantic salmon and cod numbers.
leapard seals have been known (rarely) attack and kill people such as the female american scientist a couple of years ago
