Ti-Lock Now Available

The describtion says: The Ti-Lock is not an exercise in ultimate lock strength; it is an exercise in mechanical innovation and an illustration of a passion shared by Grant, Gavin and Chris.

hmmmmm...

Looks pretty cool, that grip clip is definitely interesting. Love the Seb Clip as is, but would like to see how this one plays out with the crowd. Looks easy and convenient.

I really like the way the knife looks and its size. Does it have a pivot bushing and can it be taken apart? S35VN is definitely a plus!

Interesting design...Looks like it might keep a fair number of youse guys from playing the "flicking game"...Engaging the lock looks simple enough,..Disengaging looks to be more time consuming than the current versions.

Of course, this is only my opinion from what I can see, but it looks like you must depress the ti apparatus at the top of the blade to swing it closed.

Cool knife but I won't be getting one. The design seems too complex, steel too soft and the price is too high on top of the fact I don't like the way it looks.

With the new pics, I must say I really like the new folder. Its a new twist of a slip joint style, only the spring is attached to the blade itself instead of the hilt. Plus it has a new blade steel, which should make many happy. The only thing I dont like about it is its price, I cant see me spending $475 for a folder right now. I would rather buy a tanto zaan first. Honestly, it seems overpriced a bit. The umnumzaan is CRK's ultimate folder and its only $400??? Maybe the zaan is underpriced......lol. I am guessing the extra $75 is for the Hawks ?? Overall it is really cool and different, I would liek to get one, but it will be own the road I think.....!

Actually I can see the extra money. There has to be a fair bit more machining then a sebenza or an umnum and likely a little more assembly/tuning time.

$475 is 20 dollars more than a large inlay s30v sebenza. Lets not get out of perspective here.

I'm excited about the Ti Lock. The lock looks strong enough, precluding any refrigerator deanimation. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the blade length and overall length are squarely in between the small and large sebenza. That's the size of CRK folder I've been pining for since I bought a small and then a large seb. The small is too small and the large is too large.

I'm not quite sure about what's going on with the Tilock's clip though. Is that tip up or tip down? Does it work like a normal clip?

As others have said its the G&G Hawk Grip Clip. When you put it into the pocket you pinch the butt end of the handle along with the top of the clip and, as a result, the bottom of the clip (the part that holds it against your pocket) lifts up so you can easily slide it onto the pocket. You then let go and it springs back into place tighter than most clips. To pull it out of the pocket you squeeze it again and pull out. This gives the best of both worlds: Superior clip retention when clipped and basically zero friction when pulled out. It also eliminates wear and tear on your pants.

As for the knife, it looks like another very cool design and the level of engineering put into is very impressive. I probably won't buy one any time soon as I still have to get the quinticential CRK's first but maybe sometime down the road. I also believe it to be the PERFECT blade length for me! It looks like it would feel superb in hand also. Possibly the most ergonomic (looking) folders they have made in recent times.

Oh man why did you have to do this Chris? I'm definitely on my way straight to the poor house, another gotta have it knife to add to the list!

Per the soft steel comments - I have a sikayo in s35vn and it's never needed anything more than a couple swipes with a white sharpmaker stick and a couple sweeps over a green chromo strop to come back to hair popping sharp, and it didn't go dull easily to begin with. It's been great so far.

i still have no idea of how it open and closes.
it would be nice to see some video of how smooth or tolerance of the knive.
I think by then we can truely understand what Mr. Reeve is stating about the innovation of the knife.

Well - I just ordered mine! Then I just thought - Is the clip reverse-able! I hope! I will call them this morning to find out. I like everything CRK makes!

I like it! Just a quick thought thou....aren't these knives limited to 500pc's? I can remember something like that mentioned when people returned from Blade this year.

CRK website says totally ambidextrous. To me that means the clip should be reversable. I may need to get one!

While anything is possible, with precision machining there is usually a large setup cost. To make money, you have to either charge very high prices or run off that fixed cost over a larger number of units. My guess is that if it really was limited to 500 units, they would cost a LOT more.
