Ticks

So what is the best way to get them out? I have always tried to twist them out. Rotate a turn or two until you start to feel resistance and then wait a second. Repeat. Continue turning and eventually you can feel him (her?) just let go. They come right off with all body parts attached. This has worked 90% of the time.
However, I had one the other day that I never could get to let go.

How do you guys get yours out?

my 2 cents:
as most of time I'm more taking a walk in woods than doing any serious hiking, I can get by with lighter gear and clothing. My personal preference is to keep very alert mind and wear as little clothing as possible, so I can spot most attackers while they are still crawling.

And of course short sleeves and pants make bugsprays absolute necessity, or I would be eaten alive by mosquitos, so I try to choose sprays that helps against ticks too.

I have also found a very good and quick way to process my clothing while being outdoors - I keep them in plastic bag, give them a generous splash with bugspray and leave for a while. I have a rule to always change clothing before going sleep while hiking.

Most bugsprays (stuff by OFF mainly) work for me.

I do not know, whether I'm lucky or my methods work, but I have only found two ticks on me during last .... err.... I guess 6 years. And I can not say her do not have enough ticks in Estonia. You can actually get a tick in your backyard, even in suburban areas in larger cities.
