Delayed entry eh? Jan 15th is a good bit away so you get to spend a bit more time before ya have to box him up and ship him to his new address. He know yet if he is going to San Diego or South Carolina for boot? I think from WA he goes to SD, but ya never know what a Marine will consider logic :devilish:
As my husband was a DI (Army not Marines but imagine they are similar) I will propose 1 piece of advice for you to pass on should Pugs agree it is sound advice in the Corp as it was in the Army. "Just do what the DI's tell you , the way they tell you and when they tell you." He will need to memorize things but do not for any reason think about WHY or HOW he is told to do something. The DI just wants him to learn to do what he is told. Once out of boot camp and on to his specialty training then permanent station there is plenty of time to actually think about why or how to do the best job possible as a Marine. And contrary to my jokes I am sure the Marines value thinking just as much as any other service, but in basic/boot none of the services do. They just want to turn him from a civilian that always questions things to a Marine that follows orders, and smooth off those independant "bumps" so he will be a part of the unit. Pugs? Is that as true in the Marines as the Army?
