. Boy, I glanced at this thread on the main page and my cojones started itching, so I had to see what was going on
Mateo,
I will tell you why we all feel the way we do. And I will be serious for this one and only statement. But first I will give you a bit of history. In the beginning, there was knifeforums only. It was the original that we all were in (well a few of us old ones). That was started somewhere between 96-98 I think. Anyway, As knife users and makers tend to all be Type A personalities, there was a lot of bickering going on, much like you see today on many forums. if someone had a legit question or gripe, they were immediately attacked on some of these forums by the groupies with threads being deleted or locked all the time. There was also much more hype going on and many lies about the quality of products. Unsubstantiated claims, testing that never happened. This was all on other forums. The owners of the two forums saw this and separated. This morphed into what became Bladeforums and Knifeforums the second coming. The Knifeforums retained the old forums, while Bladeforums became less tolerant of cheats and general bad behavior. Busse knives had been around for a long time and the BM having recently made it's appearance was making a name for itself. The Steal Heart already had a name for itself. The Busse forum was started. What set these people apart is that they did not have to fight to prove what their tools did, because that had been proven time and time again and head to head competitions were always avoided by other claimants. Anyway, the Busse forum became one of the few manufacturer forums that did not have bickering. This was because of the general easy going nature of everyone involved. Today both Knifeforums and Bladeforums seem to do well with no where near the bickering that use to go on back in the late 90's.
This forum has become a place for all of us to let down our guard and enjoy ourselves and not take things so seriously. life is tough enough in the real world, we don't need to make it more complicated here. We all get along great and we really do like each other. If I ever seriously offend anyone by saying something personal, I will apologize as that would never be my intention, but all I do is in jest and for fun and entertainment. The others do the same and the ribbing back and forth is for fun only I never take anything personally because I know it's meant in fun.
I appreciate the latitude the Mods here give me and Skunk to do our stuff. Mike is a great guy (lick this one up buddy, because I'll never cough that sentence up again). He has a tough job. I for one don't think there is anything Jerry has to do. The best thing he can do is let this forum have it's own life, which it does.
On one last note. Take a look at all the other forums over the last year or so and notice how they are changing and how they have become friendlier with less personal attacks. I think our forum has a lot do with this. People see our happy ways and they copy them. The HI forum is a fun place and they all enjoy themselves over there.
Mateo, I have always enjoyed your input and I hope that you continue to post here and become involved. Do what I do, drink some alcohol and sit down and enjoy the ride
seriousness over.
