Time for Fletcher Knives to reveal a secret...

Another thing I should say is that the warranty will still hold true. If anyone's knife gets screwed up to the point that it can't be repaired, they will get a new one for free. I'm not throwing the patterns away or anything, so I'll just get the pattern out and bust one out. No one will be forced into a newer design just because theirs gets messed up and I don't make that model anymore.

Nothing wrong with keeping proven designs around while still trying to innovate. Randall and Morseth are 2 examples who have been doing it for over 50 years. They may be "old school" but I would stake my life on 'em.
It, to me, would seem to be hard to keep reinventing the wheel with changes that are truly unique and add to the product. The Hatchula is a great product, for example, and I can't think of anything at this moment that would make it significantly better(outside steel or scale material).

As someone previously said, I think it is a great idea as you there will be new designs instead of repeatedly selling the old ones for years to come.

This is a cool idea bro, it is your gig after all and you can do whatever you like so long as you feel it's the best thing for your business.
I don't doubt that you'll be well able to keep refreshing the line plenty judging from the number of cool models you've come up with already, more power to your arm as they say round these parts!

ps I still plan to keep knocking the crap out of DF#008 anyhow! :D

The ability to maintain creativity and exploration is why many of us decide to go into work for ourselves.
My first reaction was that I should be more cautious with my hatchula. And then I batoned a 5 inch chunk of elm with it.

Looking forward to your future creations, Dylan.

Regardless of what happens I'm just stoked I own one now. :)

By the way, the BOXL is the shiz! Everyone should get one now.

(Pics to come later.)

I'm not sure how I feel about such a small number of such awesome designs, but I really like the fact that you want to keep innovating. My "One only" People's Knife and Esteban 002 feel pretty distinguished right about now.

ETA: Big props to Dylan for the emails that went out yesterday. How a person handles a controversial decision takes criticism says alot about them.
