Time for FrankenBecker #2!/Giveaway

And colt its different than what we originally talked about but I know what you like and this is even better than that....

Clich, could you be so mean to all of us waiting to see that? I guess you could.
But, could you deprive yourself of the bragging? Doubt that :D

Bragging rights are all I got :D I gotta stay ahead of the curve on mods. This is something I've never tried or heard of

Here we go! Progress right in front of our eyes (well, we wish to see it!!!)! :D

Good things come to those that wait......I'd say its my masterpiece except I've got one on my bench for a friend that's gonna blow your minds......but anyway if you keep making me post how will I take pictures?

Ok, I recently found some money lying around, and now I think I'll participate! And Clich, if you can resist posting pics until the knives are shipped, I will dedicate every knife I own to your honor!

She is DONE! Well for my part anyway. Sorry for the delay guys. I had a lot of trouble trying to get ideas into actual fruition. Colton and I talked about an etch and I originally was going to do a flame job, but then after getting it squared away, I decided that was a bit cliché and uneventful especially if I wanted to push the envelope. So, since Colton gave me artistic freedom, I began drawing up new plans. Now Ive been experimenting with a new etch technique that’s much like scratchboard (I call it scratchboarding in fact). Paint it, scratch it off, etch and viola! But for those who are familiar with scratchboard this works in reverse. The dark spots on the final product is what you remove, not the light and this threw me off more than once since scratchboard was my favorite medium in art classes. So I made some mistakes and thought hey that needs to be lightened and scratched away, since the black and satin throws off your eye. Once I concentrated on the image being a negative, I got it down pat. It requires a bit more artistry than just the standard letter and vinyl etch but its worth it.
So originally I was going to follow suit with the becker brand, and do an outdoorsy pic, mountains, trees, waterfall and a whitetail. But after seeing the scale colors that have been picked I decided that the blade etch and scales wont match. I went back to the drawing board again. Then I remembered Colton is a big skull fan, so I went looking for inspiration. I found it…..

And after the blue bleach bath and all finished up and reblued.

I did a light blue bleach as to not over power the skull, and this is the reverse. Not much but its there

And a close up. The blue will darken over night since this shows just the last coat.

The final product….Thanks again for the fun time Colton and I hope its worth the wait…I LOVE it and hope you guys do too….

That's awesome clich. I love it. ;) I remember scratch boards in art class when I was a kid.

BTW clich, did you freehand scratch the paint off? Or did you lay out the pattern first?

VERY nice work. You've just moved into the realm of things I know I will never be able to do. Art was never my strong suit, and that, sir, is art.

Yep, sure can see the pencil marks. I see you have some artistic abilities. I too can draw, but have a harder time seeing these days to do it. Funny you did the skull. I had something similar in mind, yet different.
