Yes it has and as stated before.....I want (at least) one of the winning design....Heck I want one of each of the designs!!!!

Stump, Im going to at least make the winners design along with one of my designs. If I can get them water jetted Im looking at doing maybe 15-20 of each.

Chris, I don't think any of us could go wrong with whichever model eventually wins. All are great designs, but I'm with G-man, that "BPS" runs rampant in our family as well . . . . :)
Gonna need a lottery system when these knives are ready for manufacture. Have you used that water jet system before with any of your blanks? The company we get our moulder profile knives from just installed it in their shop and cut their lead time down from 4-5 days to just 1-2. Probably would be neat to see how it works.
Be safe.

Thanks Bill & Chris,I can't believe one of mine made it to the finals.
1/8 is fine for a tin knife,it'll take up less room & leave more for other things in the tin.
There're just tin knives after all, made to be lashed to a stick for a spear or just to lengthen the handle & 1/8 will be better for that.
Check out youtube for tin knife handles.

You going to go with 1095 Chris?
Man I am dyslectic,I thought the thickness choices were 5/32 or 1/8 :o.
I'd go with 1/8 for the longer handles on #1 and #3 & 3/32 for mine.

Bill, Ive never used it before. It seems like someone that makes alot more knives than me could benefit from it. I will just have to see if it is worth it. It will save alot of time since you won't have to trace patterns, profile it out, drill holes, etc. Ive gotten pretty quick at doing that but it still eats up time. It would be nice to grab one and grind the blade plus they will all be exactly the same. Its all about the cost for me. It will save on electricity, belts, drill bits, bandsaw blades, and steel since they can nest the patterns real close on a sheet of steel. In the end it might just be worth it. We will see as Im going to give it a shot on these tin knives. With these, since there won't be handles, I can heat treat and grind the edge. Thats it.

I gotta get some votes up for mykel m's Tin-Kep...... It's the BEST of the 3 to add a field handle onto to give it a nice BIG handle with a good sized blade!!!

I can see how hard the decision was to narrow the entries down to only 3. I can't decide which one I like best... each time I log onto this thread, I keep going back and forth on whick one I like best out of the 3 designs!!!

Make 'em all Chris!!! If you build 'em, they will sell!!!

I hear ya SB. After Bill voted for his he called me and we talked about which ones we liked and which ones we thought would win. There were way more than three as each one could be used differently. We both had these three on the list though. I also really dug the Ulu shaped knives. The only problem with those is it would take along time to make them with the cutout for your hand. I would have to sell them for alot more. Now with the process of waterjetting, it could happen with minimal upcharge I think.

Most shops charge an hourly rate for the more expensive machines. It pays to shop around, course water jets
aren't in every job shop. I've watched them work before, they are awesome.

though all look cool.. i really like the simplicity of Stump Busters #3 the best, it definitely has a more straight forward, utilitarian look to it..

Thanks Stump.
I know I won one,but I'd buy any of the three too.
Mine's just a basic tin knife, but the other 2 are cool & functional.
Here's a handle I put on one of my tin Ks awhile back,it really makes a difference.

You see this RED NAME I got? My mod powers of banishment work over here too. :D

Besides, I knew KFU back when he was just Chris. :D

Anyone of the three designs are gonna be a hit, can't wait to see'em.

I don't know, seems a bit odd to me. I think perhaps there were some hanging chads. We need a re-vote. :D
