Tip up or down?

I can get a Spyderco Military (always tip down) or Endura (tip down) out of my pocket easier than I can a Manix 2 XL (always tip up). When I pull the former two, I don't have to stick my hand into the pocket as far and my thumb lands right where it needs to be. With the Manix, I have to stick my hand way deeper tp get my thumb where it needs to be, or I have to adjust my grip

This is my problem too. I would have to stick my hand much farther into my pocket with a tip up knife but wearing jeans and carrying a reasonable sized knife, my hand doesn't easily go into my pocket.

Yep! That is the same as my experience in daily life as well as training.

Do you carry your modern knife with the tip up or down, why?
Ive carried both, for over twenty years.
I prefer tip up.
Both require a grip shift or pivot, between pocket and use, the practac guys get exited about it, but my knife is not a weapon!
I've had tip down open in my pocket, when I used to carry a hankerchief in the same pocket.
Tip up just feels more mechanically safe, and it's what Im used to.

Yeah, but you know I'm going all the way this time; I've installed the clip 90° from the blade. Beats tip up/down by a large margin!

I like to carry tip up, but some knives carry better the other way (usually bigger ones). It depends really, but I prefer tip up for safety reasons.

It just depends on where you want to carry your knife. It is always best for the knife to open to a seam, rather than into the open portion of the pocket. I prefer right back pocket carry, so I like tip down. When I carry a tip up knife it has to go into my front pocket, which is fine, but not my preference.
