I like that knife!

What model is that?

But wouldn't the fit depend on the quality of the torx screw as well? As in wouldn't the wiha set only fit better if the scews were made in a way that facillitated that fit? If the torx are cheaply made I doubt they are all identical and those variences may mean a wiha fits better on one screw and worse on the next.

This seems like an exercise in pretzel logic, as if you're making a case against quality drivers as they may not fit poor quality fasteners. Presumably a well-manufactured knife will be assembled with properly sized fasteners. Owning good knives and using precision tools seems the best course to me, though you can probably buy Jarbenzas and cheap driver sets off the same counter at a gas station or big-box store in the hope that you'll find a better fit that way.

Get yourselves a Piquic Stubby, and a good torx set... never rush, take your time. Place a towel or something similar under your knife, so it won't slide around while your working on it.

I'm not making a case against quality drivers. I was just making a point about the arguement that Wiha drivers are better because they fit the screws better. I am saying that would only be true if the screws were close to the appropriate specs.

I thought that was the whole point of this thread, cheaply made torx screws stripping out.

Yes, in theory. I only included the comment "as long as the screws you're using them on are quality and in spec" to cover the possibility that even Wiha drivers might not properly fit really cheap, poorly made screws (like maybe a $3 gas station folder). In practice, I've never had them not fit a screw well, whether on an $18 Chinese Kershaw or a $300-400 knife. In all applications I've used them for so far they have fit better than any other brand I've tried.

What?....Torx fasteners are vastly superior to any other fastener I know of. Anyone who is having trouble, is either using the wrong driver, or the fastener is substandard. Hex heads strip easily. Phillips cam out and strip, as do slot. Torx will take out the thread before the head. Why is this even being questioned?

I got myself another self contained torx set today, it's put out by Maximum. You can do a search for Maximum Precision Driver and Bit Set, 25 pieces, the bits are made of S2 tool steel, with a black oxidized coating.
