Tis the season. What gear should Santa bring you?

I am lucky in that my wife has taken to getting me a knife, flashlight or other outdoors related gear for birthdays and Christmas. (Sure, I may have to leave hints around so she knows exactly what I want, but still... :D)

This year I'm leaning toward the diamond sleeves that go over the Sharpmaker for reprofiling blades. I also really want one of those JetBoil stoves. So what do you hope to find under the tree?

I want the new Fenix flashlight.

It will likely be a Sportsmans Warehouse certificate.

If it were Santa it would be maybe a Marlin .357 levergun, a CS Trail Hawk, a Koster Bushcraft, or a new woods backpack.

I want the new Fenix flashlight.

Which one? One of the Q5 or Rebel ones? Or is there one that that just came out that I missed?

I want an NWA forum knife, but I don't think Santa will be able to pull that one off for me. :)

I'll settle for the pile of Marmot stuff that I am swiping from work.

Unless I'm specific about a bit of gear, I'll end up with a few items that are always in demand like some webbing, a few slings and some carabiners(locking). I'm pretty much to the point where I've got everything I need for the activities I do, so it's about adding stuff that wears out/gets lost.

I'm very specific with the wife. I even forward links...

I asked for an ARC AAA and a couple of SAK's.

What I really want is a new Kimber .45, and new Colt SAA clone and a S&W or two.

I'll probably get a Maglite and a BassPro gift certificate!

I got myself a jetboil a few months ago; you'll like it. Great for when the weather is nasty and you want a quick cuppa.

Unfortunately, I've just had to do a deal with my wife to get two new monitors for my PC's; my big old one blew up a couple of weeks ago. They are my Christmas and birthday (that's this weekend) presents :( I needed (and wanted) them, but they were a bit expensive and she knew how much I had already spent on knives and kit.

So I'll have to be happy with whatever little things she thinks of now. No major kit at all.

I'm just hoping for some, erm, Christmas favours!

Rick.

Wow, lets see. I think that the Continental style CZ452 w/24" barrel would top my list from Santa.

In reality, I gave a list to the wife that has 11 items on it, complete with make, where to get it and what they cost including shipping, which on most of the items, is free.

Top of that list is a Kelty Moraine 3600 pack, then a set of Smartwool lite weight longjohns, Snow Peak Personal SS Cooker 1, Smartwool liner socks, gaiters, foul weather cover for the pack, a 4 pack of Light my Fire Sporks, quantity of Mtn. House freezedried food, AM Pocket kit, breathable & wicking pair of rain pants and a footprint for the tent.

I want a Spyderco Civilian. I keep mentioning it, but unless my fiance wins a small lottery, it won't happen. If the jerk politicians had raised the minimum wage to $10 an hour like they SAID they might do, she'd have enough cash to buy it for me.

If santa wanted me to be happy, she would bring me a CS Trailhawk, a Rat-7, a new sheath for my Buck 639, the bag of cotton balls I've been asking her to pick up at the store for the past 4 weeks, and pay her share of the rent.

More than likely, I'll get a few trinkets that I'll forget about a soon as they're opened, an offer to pay for half of a new couch (even though the one we have is just fine), and a bunch of appologies for dragging me all the way to Ohio to have X-mas with her family and having to listen to her 13 year old sister going apeshit over meaningless teenager crap the whole time. Why her parents decided to have another kid after the first two were grown up and they were finally out of the woods, I'll never know.

Last year was nice. I opened up a bunch of small useless stuff an after acting so surprised and content, thought to myself "wow. this stuff is useless." Then she surprised me with a new big elaborate gun cabinet. I doubt I'll get that lucky this year.

Umm, yeah a pair of kevlars would be great. I didn't read the linked thread, except to see the pics. How the heck did ya miss taking off the nail?:foot: Opps, mean, how'd ya do it HD?:)

You know, the usual.

that finger has taken a lot of abuse. There's a scar below that from a YCS that slipped out of the sheath, a scar on the other side from a Microtech LUDT and a big diagonal scar from a crosscut that jumped the cut and cut my finger:rolleyes:

I would love to get a marlin 1894 SS 44mag lever action rifle but it seems to be slim this year, not for the family by no means but me & acquirring expensive gifts from Santa LOL !

Santa better 'tach a trailer to that slay!

I'll take one of those Model 1895GS 45/70's!!!

and...

  • Any Surefire
  • 12 Wool Socks
  • A Marlin 39A Golden
  • Any Kirafu pack
  • A Leupold VX-II for my BAR
  • A SJTACLE
  • Another 1,000 rounds of .308
  • One of those big 48" steel JoBox or Rigid job boxes
  • A new kitchen

Reality tells me I'll be getting the wool socks.

Any maybe -- with any luck -- maybe we'll all get a little more peace on Earth and good will towards men eh?

Merry Christmas fellas :)

An Emmrod fishing rod, a Gränsfors Bruks Small Forest Axe, or a Leatherman Skeletool if that gets released in time for Christmas. Of course I think santa is more intersted in getting me new sleeping bag or pack, which is fine by me as well.
