Titanium Handles

I believe Planterz is right about CF -- it's not as abrasion resistent as ti. My understanding is that once your wear or scratch it down ot the actual fibers, moisture can get in and it can lead to delamination.
 
Carbon fiber can be sanded down to remove all of the scratches.

As far as I know though, the scratches left alone cannot cause harm to the carbon fiber.
