Titanium/SG2 JunkYard Dog II Pics

Wow that's sharp! Hell, none of my knives are THAT sharp. They can shave hair but not whittle...

I managed to do the same with my SG2 Blur and Tyrade with factory edges (the Blur has actually been used a bit, so it does look like SG2 will hold a pretty fine edge). Didn't seem too hard to do, toughest part was keeping the blade from just popping through the hair.

OMG... kneedeep.. Please PM me on how much you pay for this Titanium/SG2 JunkYard Dog II. Cheers!

I got lucky and received it as a gift.

So far I haven't seen it in stock on line, but most dealers seem to be listing it between $140 and $160.

Diggin' an old thread, but wow some VERY nice images!
Cuz I just received one of these knives, a seconds type
has the grind lines off on one side but cuts extremely.
But it did have the sharp corner of the start of the blade
one of my major pet peeves, as when you go to cut soft
material, it can hang up the knife on that abrupt edge.
So I took and softened the angle of that and sharpened
the the radius so now it's like a small serration ;)

Man I love my SG2 blem - I missed out on the production run but the blem is great.

I wish they had the airplane graphics on mine in addition to the fuselage pattern - that's cool stuff.

Thanks, I hadn't looked at this thread in a while. The pics did come out pretty nice. Always helps when the knives are photogenic.

G2, seems like a very practical mod.

Sharpening the choil is a great idea, I get tired of it snagging since it's my main EDC, I was thinking I'd do it with a small diamond rod. Do you think that'll work well or should I use something else?
After seeing your JYDI it makes me want one. Looks like a fun little knife and since I like the JYDII it would be cool to have it's little brother also.

a small diamond rod may work, not sure, just got the dremel, so used that
and yes, it's a lot handier to have it not snagging on stuff!

just take it slow and it'll be fine, would have been nicer to have the edge
all the way up, some of their knives do that, not sure why this one didn't
there isn't anything in the way that needed that area cleared out...

Add a little note about this knife, especially regarding the blade's grind and edge
working on installing a window in our daughter's bedroom wall, concrete block house
with stucco on the outside, I used that knife a lot during the destruction of getting
some old boards out of an existing frame in the wall, HACKING severly with the knife
down on plywood edges to 'trim' one down to size was kind of an extreme use for
that blade, at least how I was doing it ;) wood with concrete that has set into the wood,
well the blade held up very well was still sharp when I checked it the next day,
some slight rolling of the edge but still cut pretty good, I touched up the edge on
a fine india stone and a ceramic stone and stropped the blade and WOW, just WOW
does this thing take a VERY nice edge, amazingly sharp, amost silly sharp :)
So if you guys/gals get a chance to give one a try, a hearty thumbs up for this blade!
and the lock held well too, felt secure while hacking like a maniac on a ladder, not
the safest method but it was growing dark and time was short...and I had a knife ;)

can the blades be swap from the TI version with the Kershaw Junkyard Dog II Composite Blade.

Thanks Gary, this is the kind of testing/using that I wanted to hear about.
Glad to hear that the SG2 steel held up to that use and that you were able to get a super edge on it.This knife is a very comfortable one in the hand and has good material in its construction.

I've been EDC'ing mine since I received it and I agree with you. I have hacked cardboard apart at work , cut cable and wire ties thus far and only had to touch up the edge. It is definatly one of my favorite knives and for the blem price it cannot be beat at all.

A few things that cinch this for me are;

The blade grind, points low enough to be very useful utility type stuff
plus the edge is quite thin so it slices extremely well

Blade steel, still amazed at how keen an edge this will take!

Blade deployment, while not aided by any torsion bar, the flipper
works excellent and makes opening the knife, well, a snap ;)

Handle shape, saber grip it excels as the angle fits well in the hand
the clip, while being a little batwing like, dissappears when gripped

While in the edge up grip, not as wieldy but still manageable.

I've toyed with the idea of grinding the spine down to a more clipped looking
blade, but, the way it is has grown on me and makes it easier for precise
cuts to be able to grip the blade to do so.

Yah, still loving this one a great deal!
