Title#3 hvac advice, knife reviews, hurt butts, and sarcasm all welcome

Now THAT is hysterical!! Mainly because I have a funny feeling you're serious!!
Makes it even funnier!
So, are we all losers?? Or is there any particular loser that's hurting your feelings??
You started a thread with HVAC in the title. Just let it run its course. I don't see anyone getting offended.......oh right, you are.
Lighten up Francis.

Okay I can't even post about a knife anymore in this thread without some loser getting offended and ranting it's officially gone to crap

Very well said brother!!
The problem, as I see it, is many customers don't give a hoot how the job gets done! Just do it cheaply!!
Can't stand being asked about ONLY price.

i do n/c commercial and residential and lots of it. so i have a rare experience of seeing all brands due to national accounts and i can say they are all pretty much the same in reliability and such. the biggest difference is who installs it and whether they do it right like running nitrogen through the lineset when brazing, weighing in the correct charge, and basically just doing the work correctly without costly down the road short cuts. you do get what ya pay for.....most times.:)

maybe hes a competitor of yours? you take a job or two away from him?:)

kidding, think he want to chat about knives being used in hvac, not so much about hvac. i get that. i'm guilty and apologize to the op for helping derail his thread.

:D:D
I love how the title got changed!! I'm picturing him stamping his feet and his face getting a nice hue of RED!!!
Ugh

lol...I am quite certain that I am the loser being referred to :( . Anyways, quick question for the HVAC crew: What do you guys think of the UVC units (e.g. Steril-Aire, American Ultraviolet) I am being asked to install these days? So that the OP will stop shedding tears: I used the spine of a Spyderco MT23 to lightly deburr the holes I drilled through a coil housing to accomodate the installation of a UVC system not long ago. Installed ten in the past year and have two more coming up this summer. Ten units certainly does not constitute high volume, but prior to last year I had installed none.

Well, if this conversation gets him hot at least there are plenty of folks in the thread that he could go to for help with his AC . . . ;)
No feet stamping and I'm not even all that mad I pretty much knew it would go off topic. I mean heck my original title had hvac in it! Just having fun being distastefully overly sarcastic. I've noticed most online forums are full of snarky sarcastic people that rag on each other for fun and figured when in Rome...
Granted I admit to being a bit butt hurt while posting this, but not from this thread..more from the spicy tuna I had last night that I'm currently trying to move through

I won't stop shedding tears! You guys are mean and I'm telling my freakin mommy! And she's gonna tell your mom's and then you're so gonna be in big trouble!!!:p

I'm really not seeing the value. Seems like people jump at that unnecessary stuff.
I get requests for them from people with more money than sense.
Oh!!! I used my Native 5 with s35vn to slice armaflex today!! Also to open the box that contained the evap coil I just installed!!

you mean hvacr crew right? dont forget those refrigeration guys. they get touchy being forgotten and ignored.;)

i like uv lights, not for clean the moving air bs nonsense, but if done right keeps the evap coil and pan cleaner. i dont see them as a waste of money. shady folks sell them for top dollar but they aint expensive cost wise down here. anyways in theory less air restriction and save energy over the long haul. less amps being pulled to turn that motor and move air. assuming statics are good and ductwork is designed and installed properly.

no pics but i sliced up a bit of ductboard today with my boker marlowe. needs sharpening now. fiberglass destroys edges.

I have worked in several alc/drug detoxes. We are never allowed to carry a knife at work due to the possibility of a 'cutter' client getting hold of it. More of a liability issue than a practical concern in my view, because one can use any number of improvised materials for self harm. I will admit keeping a Vic Farmer or Pioneer in my jeans watch fob pocket out of fear of finding a client that hung themselves. Thankfully my fears were never realised.

IMG_2378.JPG Ended the day trouble shooting this beast! 20 year old Lennox H/C unit......lotsa fun!
