Title#3 hvac advice, knife reviews, hurt butts, and sarcasm all welcome

Thanks for all the HVAC advice comments. I just thought the wealth of unbiased knowledge from fellow knife lovers who are also HVAC experts could help inform me. I guess the"knives, knives, knives" opening was a little too snarky for some......and for those who enjoyed the ensuing hilarity, you're welcome.

circuit short, I also wanted to either heave or jump off that damn roof!!!
This control panel looks like fun, doesn't it??
TORTURE!!!!!

I will admit control wire issues are my least favorite and I've had the most trouble with the Lennox and carrier package units and freakin any condenser with a 2 stage compressor/ high efficiency board that looks 2 floor tiles filled with resistors and Christmas lights :D

Just please make sure your evap coil is in good shape and rated for the pressure of your new condenser (Will cost you a lot more down the road if it isn't) if you have a split system and if you package system just don't get a goodman

In this Lennox, secondary boards are actually mounted onto the primary!! Real joy to work on!
Turned out one of the cond fan motors seized up and took out a control relay. The compressors shut down on high head......adding to the fun!!
Bout 4 hours of enjoyment for that mess!!

It might be wrong, but on a lot of those dang boards like that I start bypassing and adding my own relays. I hate when fan motors go out on older units cause I do a lot of work on beach houses and those fan blades can be ridiculously seized on the motor. Salt Air destroys air conditioners!

I'll usually just sell them a new blade.
It's not worth wasting the time sanding the shaft, oiling it and heating up the hub to get that bitch off!!
Worst part about that Lennox??? It's up on a black roof with high parapet walls!! Bout 120* with no breeze at all!! Like working in a sauna!!
Ugh!!

Man yes those roofs with that black tar crap is the worst!!! I usually don't have much of a choice when it comes to fan blades cause the closest supply house is 45 mins away. I usually use an old motor shaft I filed down with a grinder and beat it out with a hammer :rolleyes:after sanding and oiling or my buddies fan pulling claw tool, either way pb blaster is your friend:D

Funny, you Google HVAC knife and this is the first image to come up. Coincidence it looks like Gerber MK2?

A lot more exciting than a TL-29 Electricians knife that's for sure.

Oh yeah that Klein duct knife has served us well for like 4 years and counting

That duct knife is a beast also!!
I use it to open slips, as a pry bar and a hammer quite a bit!! Very handy tool!
Klein makes a very well made tool also! Their electrical pliers are the best I have tried! About $50, but worth every penny!

What was their tag line in the 80s? I had an orange shirt and it said something like "Ask me about my Klein Tools." or Klein Tools, How's Yours?" It was some hokey sayin' with sexual undertones. We could do that still in the 80s, we weren't all so politically correct back then and that was ok. :)

Wear a shirt like that today and you'll get arrested Ted!!!
