Titusville Cutlery Company

Some of the Tunas I've had over the years were nail breakers. How are these old man jacks and old man norman barlows in terms of pull?
Some of the early Phoenix Jacks were a pretty stiff pull. They were tweaked slightly in the later releases to ease them up a bit. The last couple Phoenix Jack patterns I got are probably an 8 pull. The Old Man Norman/Jack knives are all softer pull than the Phoenix ones.

I have a green maple Burl Phoenix Jack that is a certified nail breaker. It's not just the pull weight, the low vertical positioning of the nick contributes. I've been threatening to add an easy-open notch since I got it.

If you do add one, show me a photo. I'd love to see what that would look like!

It's a great knife. I can't recommend them enough. Nice stiff pull, which I like. Gator snap with great fit and finish.
Not to get too far off topic, but I've been a bit disappointed with my first couple of "sheffields", although the second was far better than the first. Getting an Albers or one of the mythical Jack Black's seems to be the most ideal solution, but I think one of these might do the trick! 👍🏻

I just received this Little Man Jack in Catalina Wine Mixer Bone and it's a great little knife, although there is one issue I have with it. There is a sticky gooey substance leaking from between the bone and the liner. I don't know if it's grease or not, my guess is that it is. I initially just wiped it all off and oiled it and it seemed fine. I picked it up a couple hours later and there was more oozing out. I'll just keep wiping it and hopefully it stops, I really do like this knife. Any ideas?

Just a quick update on this. A member here was kind enough to reach out to me with contact information for Ryan at Daniels Family Knife Brands, he also reassured me that they will take care of any issues. They told me to send it in so they could disassemble the knife, clean it up, and reassemble it for me. Apparently there was a chemical reaction between the temporary spray adhesive that was used to hold the scale in place while pinning, and the dye in the bone handle. I sent it in just before Christmas and got it back today. They fixed the issue perfectly, fit and finish on it is just fantastic! Thank you Carl and Ryan for resolving this issue and for the excellent communication! 😁

This Lambfoot OMJ was a present from a dealer in our community - Thanks again Jamie!! I like the copper bolsters, and fit is really good!!
As a newer company, I think Titusville needs to "polish" up some of their finishing,
but they are on the right track!!Titusville Stag 1.jpgTitusville Stag 3.jpgTitusville Stag 2.jpgTitusville Stag 4.jpg

Great post. A lot of knife users like to know or have a comparison of the thickness of a knife.
I took this pic to show a member here the relative thicknesses and figured it might help some folks trying to decide on a cover choice.

From left to right (and thinnest to thickest): Catalina Wine Bone, American Elk, Mammoth, Burnt Sambar. These are all the Old Man Jack Lambsfoot models, btw.

I actually tried to buy a burnt stag from JSR, but they said international orders had to contact them and they never got back to my multiple emails.
Beautiful knives but priced just enough that with currency exchange and freight they’re in the expensive bracket. Seems to deter flippers so fair enough though.

The copper elk lambs are stunning.

Glad that worked out, it's a beautiful example. I don't have a shadow pattern from Titusville Cut Co yet. Yet... 🤣

I had a similar experience when I sent one back. Ken Daniels was gracious, and the knife was elegantly repaired and returned quickly.

It's a fantastic little knife, you would not be disappointed as I'm sure you already know. I go back and forth between small and large folders and when I look for a small one in the knife drawer, this one always pops out!
