im assuming they dont want to warranty or exchange for you? is this correct?

if so maybe this finish and brand aint for ya. ya seem bothered over it and into day 2 now.....and that means ya aint ever gonna be happy with it.

Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer , I just took delivery if the knife last week. I am too old for crawling through muck and mire. This is how blade arrived.
Thinking of removing scales to get a closer look if there's any electroplating NiB underneath this black metal dye
Your profile says your 24. That's not halfway to being too old to crawl through muck and mire. (You don't have to ask how I know.)

I paid for NNiB and what I received appears like a cheap bottle solution finish. That's what's bothering me brothers!
right. understood. what's the end goal here though? Will they not warranty or exchange it? so youre stuck with a product your not happy with? is that where youre at on this good, bad ugly type forum thread?

He’s wondering if anyone actually knows what that finish is.

Looks like a halfway coat of birch wood super blue.

"Unfinished"?

I slide a lot of fixed blades in and out of kydex that look nothing like that.

I’m in agreement. That looks pretty wonky. I’d holler at Mr. Kell and see what he says.

I thought there might be others who received this exact "Battleworn" (black felt ink marker) finish from Tim here on BF.

Tim has not said he wouldn't honor returns, not yet anyway.

Ouch. Oh well then

Scratches are definitely not from kydex. TKell sheaths are some the best.
Here's a photo of old on left and new construction on right. There's no rubbing the blade period. Holstering can get tricky. The old knife was worn on a vest attached molle left chest tip up. The knife temple point got snagged on a line popped out and sailed overboard. First knife was NiB tumbler finished. It never showed a scratch in 4 yrs of service.
