Great photos, looking forward to having some of these and putting them to use.

Has anyone ever seen a TL-29 pattern custom-made from the ground up?

Great photos thanks for sharing.
Not a custom but altered for me. When I was an apprentice back in the early 80’s I had my Klein TL-29 spear point blade converted to a sheepsfoot blade better suited to cable splicing.

I need to get the pliers and leather. Lord knows I have enough of the knives.

I had been reading this thread last week and lo-and behold came across this old Robeson Cutlery Tl-29.....
Don't pass up on one of these if found.... Steel takes a real nice edge

Picked up a real inexpensive ratty old Klein to start using and getting a feel for the pattern. Here's my oldest harvesting some cattail shoots with it.

Also picked up some busted, rusted ones to tear apart and see what makes the insides tick. Might do some modded TL-29s someday.

That Boker I picked up had some horrible brown delrin scales looked like someone used break cleaner or something that ate them up pretty bad. Here it is after I replaced them with lignum (the picture doesn't do the wood justice)

BRL there isn't a whole lot to them I left the bail off on mine the biggest pain was getting the new pins aligned with all of that spring tension.

Your new scales look great! I'm new to modding folders so any modding is a ways off... for now it's a matter of getting my Klein into tiptop shape and putting it (back) to work. What's nice about the TL-29 as a 'platform' is that there are ten billion of them out there.

As a big KA-BAR fixed blade fan, it was only seemly that I would pick up a KB-flavored TL-29. There she be, all wood handles and smooth action. Now for an edge.

I'm only a few minutes from placing an order for a Klien, but not the standard tl-29 model with the spear and screwdriver blade, but the 3 blade that also has the hawkbill. My electrical teacher has one that looks like its been carried a long time and used a lot but besides a slight patina ( I'm not sure if its stainless or carbon but the patina look implies carbon) its in really good shape. Which is surprising because I have witnessed the things that man will do with that knife. It has withstood a lot of abuse and hard use and asked for more. His is a two blade with a hawkbill instead of a spearpoint. I have an older craftsman with the spearpoint but Id really like the hawkbill for stripping wire.

I would say go forward quickly and you will have a knife that will serve you well and for a long time. Should be just what you need. I am not a electrical pro but have thought a hawksbill would be ideal on the few home repairs I have done. 300

How can I have so many TL-29s and none that say TL-29 on the handle (at least I don't think). 300Bucks, you got some sweet knives, dude. And yeah, the Robeson is epic!
