TNK Inquiry ???

I have had only great dealings with Neil.

Once, an order got delayed, which was totally out of Neil's hands, and he sent me an email and let me know what had happened and why.

Top notch customer service in my book!

Just to be clear - I know nothing about Neil or his business. My comment was in reference to the way others were describing him.

I've had pleasant email conversations with Neil, and he was fast to reply and very courteous. He even explained that he keeps a list of the CRK birthdates he has on hand in case there is a special request. I don't know of too many others that will go to that trouble.

sechip - I never prejudged you - I merely judged you- I still have recorded your disgusting vulgar insensitive angry and aggressive voice mail you left when I was 25 minutes late posting Shirogorov knives one fine Saturday - the reason, as you knew very well, was that my elderly father, recently deceased, had locked himself in the washroom and due to his advanced Alzheimer's he was hysterical and panicking so I had to leave the office and get him out and calm him down - but this was not an acceptable excuse for you to have to wait 30 minutes past the appointed time for me to update the site.
This in addition to your repeated phone calls, sometimes every minute for an hour straight without leaving a simple message.

Rolf- your history really does say it all - if you have something to say then this indeed is the place to say it and not secretly behind scenes- as publicly you may actually have to tell the truth- and for the record I refused to sell you- not the other way.

To the others- I am not a knife nazi - I am approaching 20 years as a dealer and as this is my only means of making a living it must be something really serious if I will refuse an order - I am not allergic to money and need every sale- but I do have a big problem with guys who string me along, bullsxxtn me, jerk me around, tell lies, make phoney claims about the knives, buy a knife on a Thursday, put it on eBay over the weekend at a ridiculous high price, and then call on me on Monday to return it because "it doesn't feel good in the hand".
Not to forget the "hold it for me for a week while I gather the funds and then they vanish when I follow up- - I understand when stuff happens but a courtesy call or email to let me know that you have changed your mind would be all I would ask.
I work 7 days a week- I am always available by email or preferably by phone- we have a toll free number and unless I am out walking my dog I will always answer.

I am now in New Jersey at the ECCKS and will be off and offline until 3/23.

Anybody who would like to know more about me please call me when I am back.

Best regards. Neil Ostroff
TNK :: TNKUSA :: TNKUSA/ATL

The only vulgarities from me were AFTER you berated me for simply asking why you missed TWO prior release dates you had promised and banned me from your website... and if i had known about your father i never would have inquired in the first place.

And you are absolutely lying about the frequency of the phone calls... maybe to try to justify your outlandish behavior?

I had many stellar purchases from Neil in the past and even on one occasion he refunded me on a very special custom knife that had some issues. The refund was something that I had asked for after the maker had the knife for 5+ months and without question he still refunded me. That was great service in my book for sure :)

On the unfortunate side and much later down the road after all the good I had known to come from him..... I had inquired about a sebenza that looked to have a scratch on the scale (turned out to be lint). I was met with an extremely smartass answer asking if it was a "trick question" and that if he ever sent a knife out like that he would have to rethink his 17 years as a CRK dealer. My IP was banned from his website after that. I politely apologized and thanked him for his response and sent another email asking him as to why I was banned. I asked if he would explain to me as a learning experience and I was told that he thought it be better he and I not do business together moving forward and that I was welcome to bring the issue into public light since that was "my style". He was referring to a negative feedback thread on another forum I had posted about a knife maker(who I have since made peace with) who at the time had made promise after promise about a knife and never delivered. I'll leave the knife maker out of this because he was a stand up guy and did in fact make the situation right. Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but it could have been avoided if the answer to the question was "it's just lint, nothing to worry about". I do not wish Neil any ill will and nothing but the best in the future, but I can assure you that I won't ever be making a purchase from him because of this. He has every right to not do business with whomever he chooses, but not to treat people like that. sorry about the long winded response..... I tried to keep it as condensed as possible and ran on in a few places. There was more but I think this about does it.

Please don't think to call me a liar like in one of your previous posts. I still happen to have all of the emails I've ever traded with you(this is not a threat, just a statement). I know you think it's in bad taste to post private emails so I have opted to not do that in respect for you. As for why I posted this... I did it to respect the OP and answer his question.

No knives for you...

I 100% recommend TNK. Smooth every time. If you are a bullsh!tter, your bluff will be called. Neil bends over backwards to make deals smooth because that's what he does, NOT because he owes anybody a doggone thing.

No worries with TNK, exceptional service everytime.

Neil is first rate, shop with confidence!

I've also made several purchases from Neil at TNK. Everything was smooth, fast, and first-rate.

TNK is one of the best Ive dealt with. Id reccomend them without hesitation. I found them in December and have made a handful of purchases from them Neil is a really good guy.

They are great, don't even hesitate to buy from them. I've bought several and have had no issues.

200% Recommend TNK and Neil Ostroff - You will be happy with your purchase and the customer service behind it.

Neil is all quality, all the time...buy from him with total confidence!

I have a very strong feeling, that you made the right call, Neil! We BF member's, also have to be extra cautious dealing with some of the people they allow on this forum...

Keep up the great service.

your welcome to your opinion, and I do agree with you to an extent that I'm sure some people deserved to be banned from his website. I don't think it's fair that you lump everyone into that category.

Again, I wish him nothing but the best in the future with his personal life and his business. Some of us just choose to shop else where. Walking on eggshells to buy a knife from a retailer is not something I'll ever have on my to do list, but I assure you I will always be polite unless treated otherwise..... even then, there is a proper way to handle yourself when that happens.

Your good in my book. Maybe I caught him on a bad day?

Maybe, as we are all human we do tend to have sucky days. Neil is not a maker, he facilitate us to buy knives from some makers who are not taking more orders. Many people do get confused and write complaint emails or calls to him when they receive a knife with maker's fault. Easiest thing is to call the maker and usually the maker will be more than happy to fix it for ya, if not Neil is more than happy to get the knife back within reasonable time. Respect goes both ways :)

I totally agree about respect going both ways. He must have had one of those before i contacted him with a question lol. Either way.... i did have quite a few extremely positive dealings with Neil before all of this. Possible that we were both a bit quick to judge one another. I can absolutey admit fault here in that case.

sounds like neil is just being proactive about choosing who to do business with.

he made the call to not deal with a few people here that to him showed red flags via abnormally high expectations, complained a lot, or were high maintenance. i have no idea if his opinion was right or wrong in relation to those members, but the man has a system of trying to weed out the "problem customers" and I dont have any issue with that... sometimes bad people will still slip through and good people can get mislabeled, but if he weeds out 90% of the riffraff with his methods, it's worth it

I'm not going to judge Neil on how he chooses to run his business (not saying anyone else here is at all), and I will say that I have had nothing but good experiences from him. I am not disagreeing with any other comments so far, but just trying to add my experience.

A couple years ago, my grandmother called TNK to purchase a Sebenza 25, which was meant for me as a Christmas present, and was in fact my very first Sebenza. She said that they helped her go through and pick out the right one, and even worked with her on the the shipping, as she needed to having it shipped to a different address besides her own so that it could be there for Christmas on time.

Not only did they work with her and get it where it needed to go, they helped her find the right one she wanted to get for me (she knows little to nothing about knives), and even included several gifts in the package as well, including a TNK hat, a tape measure, and several band-aids.
As a side note, the hat is awesome. Very comfortable, and not one of those really cheap hats you usually end up with when you get branded hats, but very soft and durable material. Also, the tape measure has been pretty helpful as it is small and simple, and of course the band-aids have been used quite a few times ;)
Always have some of them in my wallet just in case :D

I am very appreciative to Neil for working with my grandmother as much as he (or his employee possibly) did. She has always said how much fun the experience was made by the help she got, and how she wished she could work with people like TNK in more of her own hobbies.

I have purchased many knives from Neil, but he can be a dick sometimes and rub you the wrong way.

Neil is a friend and brother. Without a doubt he will act with honesty and integrity.
