To a knife-nut, happiness is...

The Spyderco mule team, that makes me a happy knife nut.

On the flip side what makes me sad is seeing one of my co-workers carrying a smith and Wesson jarbenza or a Gerber POS and while we're opening box after box of crap and my knives are zipping through everything put in front of it and they're smashing through the cardboard with the equivalent of a miniature snowboard and I try to show them the merits of a good steel with a good heat treat and geometry and they say their POS, which can't cut warm butter, is good enough. That makes me a sad knife nut :grumpy:

You all know the one;)

Giving a really nice knife to a fellow knife nut who knows and appreciates great steel.

(I must have been nuts to give away that rat tail!)

I sure do!

But when I'm the one stuffing a knife in one for warranty/pimping services, I get a little sad knowing a bunch of strangers at the post office will be responsible for keeping track of my knife.

When the action of a knife makes me close it and flick it back out at least 3 more times before putting it back in my pocket, I know I found a good one.

Introducing someone else to our hobby and higher end cutlery.

OP: what is the folder on top in this crop of your photo? I am really digging that.

I believe that's a Le Thiers, and that's the one in the pic that made me happy too. :)

Lending a knife to a friend when they need it and converting them into being a fellow knife nut and teaching them the skills of sharpening and maintenance.

Picking one hair on my arm and then watching it pop off with the gentle touch of my blade

Receiving a new knife and having it exceed all of your expectations!

Discovering a new class/type of knife or manufacturer that appeals to you and finding out that there is a whole new lineup to obsess over.

This... plus Student762's comments about knowing that you have a sharper knife than most people could conceived of...

;)

Just hearing that your state has adopted new knife laws allowing you to carry whatever you want where ever you want.
Or one better, just hearing your nation enacted new knife laws allowing you to carry what and where ever you want.
I can dream right?

The fact that on Christmas/at Christmas parties everyone is asking me to open their packages. Makes me feel like a superhero.
