I see that the dealers are selling it for $280 which is 20% below the MSRP of $350 so my question is this: would it be possible to lower the price by another 20% and sell it for $210?

You should familiarize yourself with the term MAP (minimum advertised price).
It is a policy adopted by several of the large manufacturers - ZT icluded - and their dealers must comply. I don't know what the individual percentages are; but they cannot advertise below MAP...which would include (IMO) posting such a figure online, even if they were willing to accept the reduction.
Best of luck in your search.

I know that Spyderco dealers can sell at 40% below the MSRP.

Yes, and Spyderco MSRP prices are ridiculously high to start with so they can offer the 40% discount.

Don't fall for these sales tactics.

ZT could have easily made the MSRP $600 and told dealers MAP was 50% off...

Also, the thought of ZT selling the almost 4 inch blade, cts-204p steel, ti and cf handled 0804cf for $10 more than the 3.5 inch, elmax, plain ti 0801 is hilarious to me.

I know that Spyderco dealers can sell at 40% below the MSRP.

But why assume that dealers that tend to show the lowest pricing are just padding ZT prices by 20%?
And, why would you think that asking for such a discount publicly is appropriate? If such a deal was acknowledged online, everybody would want the same price...and a lot of people would take their business elsewhere if the dealer didn't give it to them (even if it meant paying a little more, just because of the principle).

Why they should lower the price with another 20% from the MSRP price?

Maybe because they could potentially sell twice as many knives of that model?

Plus the 804CF has a 3d machined titanium pocket clip, which is more expensive to manufacture.

Since we collectively will never know how much margin the ZT folks run on their product, we will never then be able to intelligently determine their price points for them.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that the dealer cost of the knife is 50% MSRP.

That means they would buy it for $175 and sell for $280 which is a $105 profit.

Now let's say they follow your sage like advice and decide to sell it for $210 which is a $35 profit.

Selling twice as many knives (paying double shipping, holding double the inventory, spending twice the amount of money on inventory) will net them $70 profit...

A loss of $35 for literally double the work and capital costs.

I have seen sellers selling titanium pocket clips for $22 to $27 and a big manufacturer could probably lower the cost further.

I don't know if those $22 to $27 titanium pocket clips are 3-D machined or not.

You might have to wait until it's discontinued to get prices down around 230 like the 030X series.

A 280 dollar knife is such a niche market and ZT knows that demographic will pay the higher prices. I doubt they would sell twice as many at $210 than $280.

Would I like a 0804CF at 210?... Hell Yes!

Rock on!

Please show me a link of how much a milled titanium pocket clip costs.

Its just common sense. Most ti clips are bent. And stamped out. Machining takes more time and creates more waste. If you know how these things are manufactured you don't need it spelled out for you. More work, more time and more waste equals higher cost.
