To Buy Blem or Not?

Yesterday afternoon was a dark day- I lost my Sebenza working on the ranch. Hopefully I'll find it (its raining today so metal detector will have to come out tomorrow), but whether I find it or not I have to find something a little heavier and sturdier so this doesn't happen again. Last time I went knife shopping I went out and handled as many as I could (a pretty fair number) and 2 stood out to me- the CRK which I bought and the ZT300. All of that being said, I think I need a 300 to either replace or supplement my Sebenza. With that rough surface and a bent and tightened clip I feel like I wouldn't like lose it (my JYD never moves and neither did my 1 ton). So my question to yall, how do you feel about blems? Is it the way to go to save on costs or is the warranty worth the extra of buying a new one?

Have you considered the ZT0200, its a hell of a knife too.. I say go for a blem. I've owned many and never had a problem with one.

The cosmetics of the 200 just don't appeal to me as much. I could consider a 350 as well, but I think the sum of all the features makes the 300 a better choice for me than the 200 or 350. I also looked at the 550 and 560 before- the 550 was great but I really like the flippers on ZT and the 560 didn't really do it for me. It looks like there is likely about a $65 difference in what I'd pay between blem and non blem and its close for me. I love the thought of having the warranty, but of all the gear I've bought over the years (much of it because I love good warranties), only my sunglasses have ever been sent back on warranty work.

Unless you expect you might need the warranty, buy a blem. For actual work, I'd go with the 030x series; plus the clip is pretty stout. I actually bent my clip out on my 0301 on accident, but haven't changed it because it slides in and out of pocket smoother now. However, if you like your sebbie, I'd consider the 0550. My 0550 is my edc; while my 0301 is my work knife. You could justify getting a blem 0550 and 030x; that it would be about the same as a new 030x.

Also, don't forget about the new 0566 out later this year.

Again, in your situation I'd get the 030x. No matter what you do though, get it from Dave kershawguy.

Contact Dave AKA Kershawguy he will hook you up. A trustworthy member here to be sure. I have a few blems and the only problem I have with them is I only have a few.

Ok guys a knife with a blem on it is like a factory 2nd with no Warranty?? is that right?? as is?? I am just asking because I do not know.

I have a blem 0350. I would do it again too. I might get myself a 0200 blem. $100 is about all I can bring myself to spend on a knife.

Dave to the rescue.
A truly excellent source and man to have about the forums.

I'd buy a blem without a doubt. The price difference on the 0300 series is worth going for a blem. I just bought a 0200kw new but there were no blems unfortunately, although the JYD II that I got with it was. If this is going to be used a lot, perhaps the extra loot is worth it though. You have to ask yourself how much is the warranty worth? The 0300 series is a great knife and its overbuilt. The 0200 is awesome and a daily carry for me

Blems are sold at the annual factory sale. Big places such as bladehq and the others do not sell blems. Kershaw guy is the only dealer I am aware of that sells them because he actually goes to the sale. Other people on ebay and such with ebay stores buy a few there and sell them online through their ebay stores but thats about it. Only way to tell is the 4 X's (XXXX) and they do not come with boxes or paperwork from the factory.

i buy alot of blems and most from dave and have never had problem with any of them.....most i cant even find what makes it a blem!!!! i work to full time jobs to do all i can for myself and family so im not well off at all, without blems i would have a hard time collecting knives at all like i do. Get a hold of kershaw guy he will take care of u...... ever think about a zt 021 fixed blade to use as ur work knife????
