To flip or not to flip

I think it depends on a person’s skill levels as how safe and reliable they are. I’ve seen some people including myself fall going up a set of stairs even holding the rail while others can dance a jig free handed going up and down stairs and never stumble.
Yes , a major factor is always operator skill and experience .

But tools also differ in their inherent quality and capability . Skill can only compensate to limited degree .

Personally I even like thumb disks more than studs. Easier to deploy and easier on thumb imo.

Flippers just leave me cold. I've seen my share of beautiful, well built, top tier steel knives (just like you have).

Then I see that thingee sticking out and I let out a noticeable groan. Yes, I have bought several. Regular flippers, front flippers, etc. and I immediately try to figure out if it can be converted to thumbstuds (double cuz one is out of whack). That happens right before I return them.

Sooooo, what say you?

P.S. No flames intended. Now......bombs away! 💣💣💣
Thumb holes and flippers/front flippers are my favorite. Different brands and styles work better than others. I'm not a Gen Z, so I disconcur completely, I'm Gen X. I do fidget a lot, having a combo of adhd and anxiety, and general restlessness.

I have large hands and most thumbstuds either are difficult for me to actuate or are uncomfortable tactilely.

another lock type argument
All my flippers are either liner or frame locks . IDK if there are any other types that can be flippers ?

So most of my objections for EDC are really about the associated lock type necessary .

I have a few button lock flippers that feel pretty solid. No idea how they stack up against a triad lock, but then I don’t push my knives hard enough for it to matter to me.

To me, absolutely! I prefer flipper to any other mechanisms. It's a brilliant design: easy, reliable, and fun to open the knife while providing a finger guard. This is why my collection consists of mostly flippers of hinderer and ZT.
