To get a Sebenza or not?

Is it correct that the Sebbie 21 pivot does not need to be adjusted? Just tighten it down and it is gtg? However, my lg seb 21 is not like that. Too tight the pivot, it becomes sluggisg. Too loose, bladw play shows. There is definitely a sweet spot that needs to be found. Is it normal?

Thats correct. The pivot tighten all the way, if every part is aligned properly during reassembly. I had probelems tearing down my 21L during the earlier days. It was very stiff when I reassembled it. There was also a considerable lock stick which was not there before I took it apart. It was frustrating and then I went through the CRK forum and found the answers i was looking for. What I did wrong was using too much grease. If the washers are cleaned, you only need a tad of grease. As for the lock stick, the mating surfaces shoud be free of oils and dry. There are also some youtube videos that are helpful too. All I can say is that I appreciate the way the sebby was designed. The tolerances are incredible. Nothing compares to it IMHO. Simple and functional utility tool.

Sounds like you pinched a washer

The knife is currently at CRK for a spa treatment. I hope they will fix whatever issues. I am very new to CRK knives and I was actually not sure if it were an issue. Thx anyway

Not to harp on the matter but I still hate the thumbstud.

As much as the Seb has been designed as a work knife I find that I like other handle materials better for a utilitarian knife. I like almost any other handle material better than just Ti.

PS the Benchmade Pinnacle was a very, very nice alternative to a Sebenza. I had two of those, and a small and large WC which for me is my favorite iteration of the Seb.

These two facts knocks the seb down just a slight notch for me over regular everyday knives that run a tad cheaper. I still need to get a mnandi though to see if that could kick out the slippies that I edc Mon through Friday.

Sebenza is not a knife I would like to buy or use. Period.
two main issues:
1 not a flipper
2 super slippery handle.

Ok, flipper or not is personal preference. But super slippery? I used mine while gutting my flooded house. Cutting muddy carpet, wet sheet rock and slimet vapor barrier and slippery never was an issue. The blasted ti gets grippy when wet I find.

As mentioned flipper or not is personal. I would be on the opposite side. If it were a flipper, I doubt I would buy it.
As for slippery- the micarta inlay will take care of that if it is a problem you are concerned about.
Of course plenty of other knives out there if this doesn't appeal to you or anyone else. Many like them, some don't. .In other words-not saying you are wrong to have different likes.
