To Griptillian or not

Hope you like it. I have a mini grip and it’s a little small for my hand size (10; X large) but still absolutely a great small EDC. The liners also extend the whole length of the handle scales in contrast to the full size version that does not.

I really like Griptillians. For around the 100 bucks you get a great work knife that is backed with a great service department. They have large washers, and they deploy quickly with the thumb studs or with the axis lock. 154cm steel is a perfectly adequate pocket knife choice. I also like the hand filling handle and the ability to get a deep carry or standard clip option straight from the manufacturer. They also throw in a carry bag if you don’t want it to stratch up things that it might be in your pocket with.

Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks, I'm sure it will be fine. If not I've got several others to soften the blow. Lol

Alright, screw it, I just ordered a mini grip standard 154cm. If I like it I'll likely get a full size in the better steel next payday.

At least this way I'll know for sure, once and for all, if I can like a Benchmade knife.

Live with the 154cm for a while. I think it'll surprise you with how well it performs. Something strange happened in the last couple years and it got lumped in with stuff like AUS8 in popular perception. 154 was and still is a fantastic steel.

Hell, I'll even throw in a free sharpening for it if you want so you can see it really shine. Just cover the shipping. 154 takes an extremely keen edge and polishes well.

If you’d like to try 20cv, but don’t want to make the jump in price point, there is the SKBlades exclusive Buck Maverick which comes with 20cv (with Bos HT) and nice micarta scales for under $100.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Really appreciate it!

Wow, very generous offer! I really want to learn to sharpen for myself. I've got a couple junkers around that I'll practice on. Thanks though, sincerely, I just prefer to pay my own way in everything.

When I said it sharpens easy, that isn’t necessarily implying that it lacks edge retention. You will likely notice that with your new Mini-Grip. I put mine to the test and it really held up.

Whenever I miss a @NickShabazz or Cedric & Ada video I know I can come into GKD in the following days and read about it. I swear if Nick stopped reviewing knives the traffic in GKD would drop by 2/3rds immediately.

Not a huge fan of Cedric, but his edge retention tests never change so it gives a good foundation for comparison points, which is often helpful.

Never seen anything Shabazzz, have skipped over his stuff a couple of times because I recognize the name. Maybe I'll give it a look-see.

Snagged one of these last night as well. Thanks for the suggestion I couldn't miss out on that beauty!

Now that's pretty good. In 12 hours you went from "i'll look into it," to "I snagged one last night."
Just like me, the sickness runs deep within you.

Edit to add:
In a materials/cost ratio, that SK exclusive Buck is just off the charts. I was sorely tempted a while back, and believe I'm going to pull the trigger on this one by this weekend.
