It has come to my attention there is some question regarding quality and quantity of my khukari products.

HI knives or swords including handles and scabbards are of the finest Nepalese HAND CRAFTED quality available.

They are NOT in the same category or competing with American MACHINE MANUFACTURED products.

When a shipment of knives or swords are received from Nepal it represents many weeks of work by Bura and his craftsmen.

Any marks or imperfections are indications that these are HANDCRAFTED ---- NOT MACHINE MADE.

Your loyalty and support are very much appreciated.

I found the all the questions about the legitimacy of Himalayan Imports very bizarre, unril I realized that very few people here in North America has ever seen just one smith work over the course of even a week. They're busy! Thanks for bringing us the best : )

Sorry it had to come to this Yangdu, but thanks for your input concerning the recent matter.

Bob

Dear Yangdu,

Not one person who knows of H.I., Bill, you, and the current and former members of the Forum and Cantina has ever had any question of the hand-made elements of production, and the purpose for which H.I. was founded, and for which it currently operates.

I'm distressed you felt you should have to post this thread...never question, dear lady, the high esteem in which you and H.I. are held.

There will always be mosquitoes. Ignore them if you can.

Be well and safe.

All of this is made clear in the thousands of posts here and on the HI website Yangdu...thank you for helping me to help the helpless help themselves.

Yangdu, please don't fret about such things. As you know, there will always be the ney sayers that feel like they have right justices that are only conceived in their imagination. Those of us that find comfort and peace upon the HI path cannot be swayed by technicalities and hammer marks. We all appreciate you so much. Not just as the fine lady that helps us with our khuk fix, but a gentle person that on a daily basis shows how far hard work, compassion, and grace can take a person.
We are not going anywhere. HI will be safe as long as we are around. I can promise you this, if two walk out over hammer marks, then I will buy two khuks in their place. This place is my friend circle, my club, my home away from home.

Jake

Kismet said it best Yangdu. Your honor wasn't damaged. You are still held in very high regard by us, and we consider ourselves more than customers. HI is among the greatest knifemakers on the globe and will continued to be viewed as such. Namaste.

For the most part they are functionally better, and built for the intended task. But, you can't please everyone and some would rather pay 10x as much for a shapeless chunk of sharpened flat bar.

Anything made by hand with skill and caring will always be more highly regarded, sought-after and valuable than the same object mass-produced by a machine.

Personally, I like food prepared by a master chef better than a hamburger off of a conveyer belt.

It's all a matter of taste, and the diners at "Yangdu's" have a discriminating palate. They appreciate the difference.

The atmosphere is very nice, too.

Well said.

Yangdu,
Please don't let the negative words of one person cause you a minutes worry or pain. Most people who handle HI products are amazed and entralled by them. As one who has made a few knives, I am amazed at the products that come out of Nepal. No they are not perfect, but neither am I.:)

I know that under your leadership HI will only continue to grow and improve!

You have my respect and my love.

Steve

I LOVE HI products! I hope that you NEVER produce the kind of machine made soulless junk that others make.

Every HI piece is crafted with quality, love and devotion. This shows through to people who have eyes to see. They are also unbelivable bargains!

I have a large number of HI products. Otherwise most of my "sharp pointy things' are antiques made by incredible craftsmen over a hundred years ago.

I have a few --- very few recently made pieces by other shops, but while I can appreciate the knives by manufacturers like Spydeco, I see no reason to have more than a couple of them. I have more HI Khuks than all the other knives combined, probably three times all the other kinves combined.

I am grateful that the kamis at Bir Ghorka continue this tradition of quality.

Thank you Yangdu for your post. It helps us focus again on the wonderful pieces you bring us.

You know where I stand, but i wanted to add my voice nonetheless.

Keep up the great work-I'm proud to be a part of it all:thumbup:

Yangdu, you are doing a fantastic job and should pay very little attention to some carless, thoughtless comments! Keep up the good work, have some more Pizza!

My muse has left me this morning-there is little I can add to what has already been said about the great products of HI and the gracious lady who is ensuring that it continues. All I can say is that I will continue to support HI buy being a regular and enthusiastic customer!

Shouldn't need to be said, Yangdu. I'm sorry for the pain the past little while likely cost you - and I continue to be a strong advocate for HI products.

Auntie Yangdu, I can't help but feel that behind the recient unwarrented critism that there had to be something else going on. Don't let it bother you.

Aunt,

You are both quality control inspector and cherished elder to most of us.

Thanks and keep up the good work. We hold you in high esteem.

Regards,

John
