To Whom It May Concern

All I can say is that I agree with what's been stated here. I feel that if I added much more, I'd be at risk of wattering down some fine, eloquent praise of a genuinely nice woman and a fine company. Thanks, Yangdu.

I have been buying HI products for over eight years. I have never have had any problem with quality issues, and I have always known that if there were any problems that HI would take care of them promptly and without question. What companies or individuals do you know of that would send you a product with only your word that you would pay for it? My most used purchase is an Uncle Bill special, 15" Ang Khola. I have bent the tip on it, edge is starting to take on a Spyderco Edge look, but I think I paid around $40 for it and it still is going strong and believe me I abuse it to the max. All of the knives I have purchased are built like tanks and are just plain cool to look at and swing around.

Yangdu ,I am rarely at a loss for words .This is one of those times . From the very start of my time here I have been treated with respect and dignity . Aside from being made to feel welcome any purchase I made for myself or others has always been top notch for a very reasonable price . I hope the person in question is able to come to terms with their personal problems and chooses not to inflict them on you in the future .

Yangdu,
Those of us in the know will stand up for the truth. That is part of being family and being true to ones values.
I own a lot of knives. I own more Himalayan Imports blades than any other maker, by close to a 10 to 1 margin. I will continue to buy more HI blades when I can afford them. Why? Because I know they are good. I trust and admire the values that HI stands for. In my eyes Yangdu, you are a top notch lady and a greatly valued member of my knife family. Keep up the good work. We are with you all the way! :D

I just read the other thread that led to this...before I read it I thought we were comparing HI to other Khukuri makers. But to compare them to all knife makers...it's not the same thing that is unfair and sort of foolish. Now to compare Khuk makers hand made or mass produced...I would say bring them on. As far as support of Hi we all strted off equal not knowing anything about them they had to make believers out of people one person one knife at a time.

On top of that you can't for a second overlook the people of HI one does not go without the other. Not many other brands can say that most would not even know what that means.

Yangdu - You have had a hard enough time over the past few years. A forumite did not need to add to that.
You have always come through for Uncle Bill.
Keep up the fine work.

It should not be necessary to apologize for producing a superior product. We appreciate what you do and what you give us the opportunity to buy. Thank you Yangdu.

Yangdu,
I have never bought any khuk but HI and I am gonna stay with HI. I recommend your khuks to everybody who is interested in this kind of knives. Thank you for your devoted work both for kamis and for us. It is a rare bussiness to stay on both sides nowadays.
I remember you sending me knife and not waiting for the payment first. Never found such a thing elsewhere.

I come to HI for a good quality working tool..a tool that shows its roots in a shop around the world..a shop where the kami puts his heart , sweat ,and prayers into making the very best product he can....when i look at my khukris i see a tool that was made for me..like the old saying in the marines.."..there are many like her ..but this one is mine.." american made cookie cutter knives are better in many ways..but they have no soul..
Thank you Yangdu , for the knives ,your time ,and your understanding. We honor and respect your product and your people..

Hi Yangdu:

You have my support. Please don't let that one thread affect you. You do a great job and your HI kuks are tops.

Yangdu, I'm sorry that it came to this. I'm sorry that somebody would question your integrity. I think that stung all of us more than a little. We're all still here with you.

Thank you for all your amazing work,

Chris

I have been a customer of HI since 1999. I will say that HI is at the top
of an unfortunately small list of companies that I have dealt with
that have impressed me with their honesty, integrity, and most of all,
HUMANITY. This is no small feat, and speaks well of Uncle Bill,
Yangdu, and the rest of the people involved in HI. They should be
very proud of what they have accomplished.

Even before I was an HI customer, I have followed the happenings
in the Cantina. The environment fostered here is as unique as
HI itself. The atmosphere of commeraderie, intelligent discussion,
humor. tolerance, and low level of noise is remarkable. It strongly
reminds me of the early days of the internet. It says a lot about
the participants, and especially the moderators. They also should be
very proud of what they have accomplished.

Yangdu, do not be concerned about attacks from someone like this.
This person seems to be a classic case of an ex-fanboy, who has
been convinced that his prince was really a frog. He feels that he
has lost a lot of "face". To make up for this, he must believe
that HI has wronged him somehow, and that HI products are
"worth very little". As you can see here, there are very many of
us that feel differently, I hope that this person can find a more
mature point of view eventually.

Thanks to all involved in HI and this forum.

Have been offline for awhile so don't know what brought this one on.

However, I will say that I do know of several khuks offered by U.S. knife production companies(not that they are the manufacturers but simply the vendors). I even bought one before I knew about HI and became more knowledgeble. It does not even come close to HI quality even though it is machine made.

HI khuks are more like custom pieces - each one is a little different even though it may be the same model. It has a soul that factory/machine made knives do not have. I have plenty of high end factory knives and like them a lot. However, there is not a factory/machine made khuk that I have seen that even comes close to the robustness that is put into a HI product. If a U.S. factory would produce a similar product in quality and give the guarantee that HI has, it would cost several times more.

I cannot say anything better than what has been said already. The Cantina is home and HI's products are the best.

Don't let the occasional disgruntled customer get you down... just look at all of us satisfied ones :)

hello all again. i have been reading these comments, threads etc- i am simply shocked by negative comments. as i am in england, being english, im even more hard pressed to find a good maker of blades, and for what i want. remember that "new himalayan sword", the one that looked like an espada? well that beuty is now hanging with pride on my wall. i dont know anyone else who would make a blade like that, for the price. its one of the few blades in my collection i feel i would wear in a dungeons and dragons scenario (ahem...). this is the simple truth- kind words from yangdu feel genuine and from the heart, and not just lip service. the steel rings when tested. the ghurkas to this day remain some of the most brave and toughest in the british army, and the kukri gave the fabled japanese soldiers second thoughts about katanas (sorry, just my thoughts) being number one. i dont even really bother looking at other sellers these days, as i have finally found this wonderous company!

regards,

chris

"Aunt" Yangdu,
I'm saddened and angry that some jerk has made you feel that you need to defend yourself and your company.
I can't really add much more than what has already been said. Just this...anyone who knows me knows that when it comes to my purchase of guns, knives and tools I'm probably one of the pickiest S.O.B. 's on the planet. If something doesn't meet my personal "standards" I don't purchase things from that company again. (I own many H.I. khukuris and plan on owning many more!) As far as I'm concerned "Aunt" Yangdu, Himalayan Imports, all of the Kamis and other employees go above and beyond any standards!
With concern and warmest regards,
Mike

Aunt Yangdu

I have HI Khuks from Shop 1, Shop 2 and Birgurkha. I have tested most of them and I am very happy to own them. The important part of those Khuks are the blades .. I might rehandle a couples of them .. I might give new scabbards to couples of those Khuks .. I might lost the Chakmas and Kardas .. but I still have the HI Khuk blades.

Now I am waiting for enought saving so that I can order Uncle Bill's Khuk, Aunt Yangdu's Khuk and couples of other product like crow knife.
