Well, for the 0888 it has taken 18 months since its announcement at the 2012 Blade Show (Overall Knife Of The Year) to come to fruition for just the 0888 and we're still waiting on the all black 0888MAX! So, bottom line, who knows when the 0454 will come to pass. I'm hoping we'll know more after the January SHOT Show in Vegas.

The 0454 was Blade Show's 2013 Overall Knife of the Year and is going to be amazing with the three part composite blade (CPM D2 on the cutting edge and spine while 14C28N stainless steel forms the angular design in the middle), similar 3D-machined carbon fiber handles with titanium lockbar (hardened stainless steel lockbar insert) and KVT flipper action.

Strictly my opinion here but that is hands down the 2nd most horrible looking knife in the ZT line up. Second only to the ghastly 0121. It's so artsy fartsy it looks like it was designed by Karl Lagerfeld or Jean Paul Gaultier to match their purse...Damn that thing is nasty.

You should have handled it at Blade this year. The thing is PERFECT. Perfect flipper action, perfect fit and finish, perfect ergos. Being able to see and handle the knife made the trip to Blade worth while.

I do like the ergos and I'll never doubt ZT quality, fit and finish but man that blade and pocket clip are.....special

People have argued for a version or versions with plain M390 blade stonewashed or DLC (like a 0454-M390 and 0454-M390BLK) more reminiscent of the original Dmitry Sinkevich Cardinator:

The plain blade looks 100% better, I really don't see the D-2 either. Would much rather have a solid blade of something along the lines of S90V.

Wow that's a night and day difference, this looks so much better. That pivotscrew is gorgeous as well. Still not too happy with the pocket clip design but in this version of the blade I could live with that.

That combo blade version should be sold with a matching cigarette holder ;)

Trouble is that ZT uses such vehicles as a marketing showcase for their technological and manufacturing prowess. So, they go to the cutting edge (and at times bleeding edge) and this time with a three layer blade. I, for one, hope that they'll come up with a single steel blade version but I'm doubtful. The reason they did so for the 0777 project is that they just could not complete the production run without incurring additional losses.

0888MAX sounds like a great offering!!! ok, well my local shop told me they had no clue when or if the 0454 would be released, so i'll keep my eyes open (and ears too)

and i am with RamZar on the marketing vehicle, which i must say is pretty good marketing!!! Sure a lot of people where didasppointed but it creates the "myth" of the elusive "such and such" knife, and some of us may want to snatch it up (i know i do this with guitars!!!)

I wish ZT would demonstrate its prowess with a different knife. After seen the plain cardinator again, definitely make me want it over the 3 layer sandwich. The sandwich would work better with symmetry.

A shop where I preordered the 0454 said there would be a lottery on January 4th to determine which dealers would get some. I guess ZT is following in the footsteps of the 888 release. But I hope there's more than 250 of these beauties produced.
