Hi Fellas,
I'm Mark,
I'm Todd's brother and one of the owners of Begg knives. I wanted to post some pieces here and get some feed back on your thoughts on our carbon fiber inlayed Bodegas. We are playing with wood for the first time and it has presented some challenges for us with the kind of tolerances we are working with. We are doing a high finish on the wood pieces and the carbon fiber now but we will probably do some more subdue finishes on some of the other wood. We felt as though the redwood burl really needed this kind of finish to showcase the Chatoyancy that this kind of burl has. This finish really looks 3D when you move the knife around in the light. We will do a video soon for you to see. This is the first time we have done carbon fiber or any composite with inlays. We hope you like it.

This carbon fiber Bodega is done with a od green G10 inlay with our new sacred geometry pattern.

Very nice. Something i think would work great would be to inlay carbon fiber with silver twill g10 which essentially looks like silver carbon. Similar materials may make finishing easier whilst retaining a high level of contrast.

Beautiful folders! I especially love that redwood burl on the 1st blade. The Stonewash finish also looks really good with the green. Awesome work!

Some are on the way. I agree with you of course.

Stay tined lots of combos coming soon.

Wood is the obvious next step for you guys. To inlay it in CF is very impressive. I would be interested in seeing you guys try more natural materials (i.e. mammoth ivory, stag, abilone, etc). The prospect of combining modern + traditional materials on a Bodega would really intrigue me. Alas, since you guys don't make leftys I will never be able to get one.

These are absolutely gorgeous. Raising and setting the bar again. Can't wait to see them!

We will be doing all of the natural materials you listed. I am sorry we don't make a lefty. I'm left handed as well but I carry with either hand.

On the top photo, is there a reason it doesn't look like the scale comes down far enough to cover the entire sliver portion of the knife?

Trying to be extremely picky here since I'm assuming that's why you created the thread. I think it looks fantastic.

Are you referring to where the plunge line is? Thank you:thumbup:

the bottom handle of the scale on the top knife, looks like it isn't completely to the edge of the handle, where your fingers would rest, may just be the angle of the photo.

The one with the wood scales looks especially fantastic. It brings a lot of warmth to an otherwise very modern knife. It's a nice combination.

These are gorgeous! I would love to see a video of them in hand and a short review as the photos seem to be slightly out of focus.

Here you go

I think that is an optical illusion. The inlays are completely flush to the carbon fiber frame. and the frame is the same on both sides of the knife. There is a little section that is notched out for the access to the lock.

Never loved your "futuristic designs" and even made a comment at one point referencing star wars...I love this direction and will want to own one of you ever make a small version.

Looks very nice. Plunge grind angles (non sharpened area at the base of the blade) and non captured bearings keep me away.
