Todd Davidson Custom Lanny's designed by yours truly

Apologies then. I meant to promote his work through the general knife discussion forum and could have sworn it was there, but there aren't guarantees with the mobile app.

Not to worry. Tapa-OOPS happens frequently on BF.

If this post doesn't serve a purpose then I'd respectfully ask the mods to remove it. I didn't mean for it to end up here, just wanted Todd to get credit for this work.

Always room for another pretty knife here in Traditional.

Congrats on that one. It's frickin' gorgeous.

That's not a Lanny's.

While I agree this isn't a Lanny Clip profile kamagong, Todd doesn't work from set patterns and prefers to cut them from stock removal as he wants and chooses design wise. Far more of a clip blade trapper with clip blade.
Very nice striper model Ahbiv from Todd, he does good work.

I don't have a problem with the knife. The workmanship looks to be quite excellent. But why call it a Lanny's? The Lanny's Clip is a pattern created by Tony Bose. I know that other makers have made versions of the design, but none have taken such liberties. This one doesn't have the fine point, the heavily swedged blade, or the contoured hadle. It's a different design entirely. Why not call it the ahbiv Special?

While not classic Lanny's , it is extremely nice and very well executed knife, which I am sure will serve you forever.
A knife to be proud of. Congrats.

Mike

I have read NOTHING but good about Todd's work- and here is proof, I am pleased your vision has become reality through Todd's Skillset, awesome.

Im not too sure why you thought people would attack you here in Traditionals though - Todds work is often shown and mentioned here?

I could not agree more, a beautiful knife in it's own right, but certainly not a Lanny's Clip.

Gorgeous and unique knife! I'll admit though, I'm a bit worried though because I have Todd making me a Lannys Clip right now as well and I was hoping mine would look more "Lanny-ish" than this one.

Any chance you would share what you asked for as far as changes to a traditional Lannys clip Ahbiv? I'm sure I'll love my knife once it gets here, but I have a picture in my mind of what I'm expecting it to resemble being a LC and it wasn't anything like what is posted in this thread.

The knife is beautiful indeed...but it's even better because it came out of a joint venture between the customer and the maker. That is the added value of knives made to custom specs and requirements. I have been down that road and I know how it feels, so congratulations.
As a sidenote, I also think your knife is quite far from a LC. Eventually this thread could be merged into the Todd Davison thread here in the traditional subforum, or just stay as a standalone thread.
As a second sidenote, I think Todd's striped handles are one of the most recognizable features I've seen in custom slipjoints, and that surely is a plus :)

This is one of the reasons I think that Todd's work has a mark of individuality. Congrats on a great knife. My TAD gets more pocket time than any of my other knives.

Congrats on the knife. It is beautiful. I hope to own one of Todd's knives one day.

It's great to see a customer's design come to life through a true craftsman like Todd.

Thanks for sharing it.

I requested a Lanny's. This apparently is his version. I'm happy nonetheless.

Agreed on point two. He's says the process of striping is incredibly arduous.
