Tom Krein made my knife Epic. **PICS**

Please forgive my ignorance, but how would one go about sharpening (or touching up actually) one of Tom's reground blades on a Sharpmaker?

Lycosa was right about the price, just got an email from him. I am def gonna send him a few of my knives. :D

Nice! Tom does expert work. He did my CQC 13 and a M2 Ritter Grip for me. The 13 cuts like a laser!

Tom re-profiled my CQC-12 and it is outstanding. Right now he is doing the same to my Emerson PUK.

Of course even better, I've got one of his Ultimate Capers in CPM154 coming my way soon.

I would use the flats only, and a very, very light pressure.

To put it in perspective, I have a couple that I asked Tom to go extra thin on. You can almost see through the grind. ;) Well, almost. Anyway, I can completely regrind the edge bevel in 5 strokes on a DMT blue stone. A couple more on the red, or a ceramic stone, and that's it! Total time, 30 seconds.

Hey guys! Thanks!

These are pretty fun to do! It really does change the cutting ability of a knife!

They are not a heavy duty blade, but in my mind knives are meant to CUT! I like precision cutters!

The price mentioned is correct, $35.00/each for blades under 4" and $10.00 S&H/package. I have started charging an extra $10.00 for ZDP-189 knives due to the increased time and effort they take.

Mr. Tom,

At what angle do you do your .010 grind? How many degrees per side?

I have no idea, honestly! I do it by hand and by eye. I regrind to a certain thickness... usually .010".

Some knives get hollow ground, like the Emerson's usually do...

Some knives get a full flat like the Spyderco's usually do...

While we are talking about grinding. I have a benchmade with a tanto style blade. Can it be coverted too something more conventional? If anyone has pics please post them. Thanks

Excactly what did he do?

He re-ground the knife much thinner for better cutting performance, and in the case of my Commander, also ground the normally flat chisel side it came with.

He basically turned a cleaver into a scalpel.

That is a nice looking grind. I have had my Commander since 1999, got it by chance at local police supplier. A local Deputy had orderd her and never come back for her. I kept checking back with the shop owner because I could'nt find one anywhere. After a time he sold her to me and I have used her hard for 9 yrs. As of this morning I have completed a total restoration of this old friend of mine. I mirror polished the sides of the blade (originally black) and left the top and edge grind satin, file worked the liners for extra grip, installed a s/s skull pocket clip, mirrord the pivot and scale screws and put on a pewter skull'd lanyard that has glow in the dark eye's.
Started reworking the edge with my diamond files when I saw your post and just when I thought she was done. I said damn that looks good and now want to send her off for a regrind. "THANK'S" Good looking knife you got there, enjoy.
