Tom Selleck carries a traditional lockback

I noticed watching an episode he was carrying his personal Gunsite 1911. I read he bought it there while taking a training course.

This is apparently true. He's a huge fan of the 1911 platform, and even though in the Robert Parker books Jesse Stone used a .38 special revolver, or if expecting real trouble a 9mm Browning high power, Tom changed it around to a 1911. While still alive, Robert Parker and Tom Selleck became good friends and Parker was okay with the change.

Carl.

I called the publicist, who gave me an email address of an assistant, and have emailed that person with an information request.

Good form! can't wait to hear more...maybe you'll get a call back from Tom himself!

Still no reply.
I didn't expect an answer yet (maybe ever), but an acknowledgement that the email was received would be nice.

You are awesome. THANKS!

To get a faster response: Tell Tom you want to order a truckload of Avocados and BTW you also have a knife question. :D

The lockback in question is a mystery to me, but here is a bit of Tom Selleck trivia.

The pistol used in the Jesse Stone movies is indeed a Gunsite Academy Special Edition 1911. Specifically a Smith & Wesson Scandium Alloy, Commander SW1911SC with Cocobolo Gunsite grips. The Raven is the Gunsite logo and is visible on the pistol and the black Yaqui holster he wore.

In some scenes a Rolex GMT watch can be seen. The distinctive "Pepsi" red and blue 24 hour bezel makes it easy to spot. Selleck wore it in Magnum PI for product placement for Rolex. When the series ended, they gave the watch to him. It's his EDC watch. The watch in the picture below is not a $10,000 Rolex GMT. May be a French watch because they call it an homage. Seriously, it's an affordable and fun $50 Invicta Dive watch with a 60 minute bezel and no fourth hand.

The picture below is my personal Gunsite Edition SW1911SC, though I never attended Gunsite Academy. Except for the lockback that is the subject of this thread, the only other knives I could find associated with Selleck are the fixed blade knives he carried in westerns.

He's a big man and my choice for him as a police chief or private investigator would be the venerable Spyderco Starmate by Bob Terzuola, the father of the tactical folder.

Did anyone ever get more info on this Tom Selleck knife?? Also, none of the links work anymore. Any chance some has a picture of the knife he’s holding, or an active link to the clip??
Take care
Ben
