Tony Bose Tribal Spear~New from Case!

I bought the antique bone model a month ago. I met Tony today at a Case event in Walled Lake MI. Great guy to talk to. He signed the leather sheath that I have been carrying the Tribal Spear in. I told him that I really liked the knife and he responded that he liked that I was actually carrying it and using it!

How would you guys who actually have seen or even own the Antique Bone describe the color? I know it's a tough question to answer, but I have no hope of seeing one of these in real life before I order/buy. Quite a few of the pictures I've seen of the Antique Bone look like they have a pronounced olive or greenish tone. Is that accurate?

No green in mine. It's golden.

Looks like the ebony Tribal Spears are starting to ship. I found this thing somewhere out there on the internets. Y'all can't have this one, I ordered it already. :D:thumbup:

Looks like I'll be pacing for the next few days, waiting for it to show up. I came :this: close to ordering one of the antique bone versions yesterday. I went back today to pull the trigger, and this baby was there as well. I'm glad I waited.

Is it bad that I guessed the retailer right just be how the product was framed in the photo?

Waiting for confirmation back from my retailer. I also know who that retailer is, but I saw the photo earlier today.

I got my ebony Tribal (Zulu :D) spear today so I took a couple of pictures. I included its older brother, the ebony Norfork, in a couple of pictures. The tribal spear gets a big  from me, by the way.

Nice pics Rob! That ebony looks luscious- dark and rich. Thanks for those- they will make my wait that much easier. (Or harder, depending on how you look at it)
Any chance of a "knifemaker's pic" -showing the innards?

I love the old-school bolsters on these- you don't see rat tails that deep very often (ever) on recent production knives. The bolsters make these knives, imho.

That's pretty much what I meant, thanks Rob!

Those Norfolks sure are something else, alright. Mine is in my pocket right now. That little clip blade is a marvel- there's so much going on in that one little blade!

My ebony Tribal Spear came in this afternoon- and boy howdy, is she ever sweet! I like the ebony much better than the bone handled versions I've gotten to fiddle with (which I also liked quite a bit).

The Tribal Spear is a super nice knife- VERY elegant and understated, with a wonderful balance and feel in the hand. Mine is going to be a user, for sure. You don't come across production knives this nice, well... ever. The Tribal Spear is pretty close to being perfect. It has my favorite steel, favorite handle material, favorite bolster setup, my favorite blade length (for a single-bladed folder) and is made by my favorite manufacturer. What more could a guy ask for?

I have not been excited about a knife like this since getting my large micarta Sebenza. This is probably the closest I'll ever get to a real Bose, Tony or Reese. It'll also be the closest I'll get to a custom slippie for a while.

Can any of you owners of the ebony version tell me the weight, please?

3.2 oz, I believe. It's fairly light for such a good-sized knife.

How many of the ebony versions will be produced?

From AG Russell's description:
"As with each annual Tony Bose knife, Case is offering the Tribal Spear in five different handle materials, in this case Antique Bone (300 pieces), Chestnut Bone (300 pieces), Ebony (200 pieces), Stag (100 pieces) and Abalone (100 pieces). "

I doubt the ebony will last long. If I had the means, I would absolutely buy another. That way I would have one to use, and one as a spare.

Howdy ladies and gents. I'm a new convert from the one-handers and this is my first post in Traditional. :)

Anyways I received my Chestnut Tribal Spear today and absolutely LOVE the knife except for the blade being just a touch off center when closed. It would definitely be something I could live with on a Spyderco/Benchmade/Kershaw or any less expensive slip joint but on this knife it is bothering me. Has anybody sent a knife back in to Case for a fairly minor issue like this?

Everything else about this knife is fantastic. From the size and balance that others have complimented to the great ergos and very elegant overall feel the knife could definitely become a favorite of mine.
