Tony and I have been trying to get out once a week for an afternoon hike.

But being a good husband and father he tends to let little things like work and family get in the way.

Just a few shots to show him what he missed on the trail.

I know how much Tony likes making fires, so I made a nice one today.

that's a nice little nook there, i love all the outcroppings we have in the woods here in CT.

looks like a nice hike, it was a bit cool today, but alot warmer than a week or two ago...

Where the hell were all you guys when I lived in CT and was looking for somebody who would go outside other than on Halloween?

Connecticut is great place,

…as long as you stay away from all the Sheeple in the population centers.

Did everybody spot my dogs in the first two photos?

Jake, the Lab, is in the first shot,

…and Aiko is in the second and obviously the third photo.

Nice pics Mike. Looks like a fun time. Good thing Tony wasn't there....with his hammer!!! He'd be whacking away at the rocks!

Great way to rub it in Mike! Looks like a great day. Thursday should be good for me, its been too long since I've been out.

Nice spot for a fire, did those rocks reflect alot of heat?

LOL Next time I'll bring my axe! The only thing safe in the woods will be the trees!!!

Wow...that is beautiful! Mike, I know i have said it before, you live in a beautiful place!

Have to admit that I am a little jealous of all you guys that live in CT. I got to stay in New Haven for a few days a couple of months ago I it just about killed me to not be able to go out and go for a short little hike. It really is a beautiful place.

Tony, I used some of the fatwood that we harvested on our last hike.

It was the only tinder I used, and even with the damp rainy/snowy weather we had yesterday I was able to get some Hemlock twigs burning pretty quickly.

We will have to go back to that stand of pines and harvest more of that stump.

Mike, nice pics! I just got back to Connecticut this morning after being down in PA for school and was not expecting snow on the ground.

BTW where is that?

Andrew, the photos are all taken in the Housatonic River watershed here in Litchfield County.

The body of water you see in some of the backgrounds is Lake Lillinonah.

:D

Mike has lived here his whole life, I just moved here a couple of years ago.

Its amazing how many beautiful spots we visit and 90% of the time we don't run into a sole.

Unless you walk in state parks, there is a good chance you will be alone on the trails.

What Tony says is true, :foot:

…except for the six years I lived in Europe,

…and those ten years in Texas,

…but I was born and raised here, and have been exploring the woods of Connecticut for quite a few years. ;)
