I am looking forward to finishing my own.. .200 ringed sword.. i will send it on a pass around ... Papathud's first!!

I know, only if I am stateside! :D

Spray Welding Stellite onto metal shafts.

What Metal is the shaft?

Can you weld Stellite to the side of a steel blank and end up with a Stellite edged steel knife?

Maybe a strong flexible Stainless?

Is this like Jet Weld? powered steel in a coated Rod, that is Jet Weld

Powdered Stellite?

The process is called hvof. But we also have another set up that will spray and bond up to .030 plus thick! So technical speakin I could make knives from home depot mild steel! You should see what a spray coated stellite 6 lawnmower blades will do, and golf club irons faces! I have some ti edc blanks always thought of doing that!!!

For those of us who dont know (me), what is
stellite? Some kinda supersteel spray?
Like INFI in a can?

I was hoping for .125" to .250"

What Temp is reached for .030" ?

What Temp is the coating stable to?

As a Blade coating Stellite would be awesome, absolute weather and normal knife use resistant, self lubricating.

Could you make a blade, coat and then Heat Treat?

Stellite deforms easily but resists wear very well, so while the coating would get scratched pretty easy, you would for the first few sharpenings have a knife Strong as a steel knife but totally non-rust.

Awesome for Ocean use.

I just thought about an AK or a Ruck coated and re-heat treated.

Or any good high carbon spring steel, made into a sword, fully ground and sharpened then coated and heat treated, then gently re-sharpened.

A possible new generation of coated blades.

There are several to lots of different Stellite alloys, but basicly Cobalt with maybe 30% Chrome and a little Tungtsten Say 0% to 12% depending

Tallonite, of Tom Mayo TNT pocket knife Fame is a type of Stellite.

Titanium N Tallonite, Titanium frame and a Tallonite blade, best ocean Pocket knife in the world at this time.

It's a little late but gotta get rid of that "suckling pig "image in my head! I would hate to be that kid as a teenager when that picture re-surfaces!

Jeremy- Girls and ink are cool, USUALLY! Why did you have to find an exception?

Here you go, much better!:D
