Too darn quiet around here!

ndog, if you're interested I can send you some inside photos and videos of that dome, that guy has been trying to sell it for years.

Oh heck yeah id love to see them! Were both gold members so I guess you can just email them or the links. Thanks Philll!

Sure thing. At one point they were even offering a free tank to anyone who bought the home. Yes, a tank.

The Nepali calendar (Nepali: नेपाली पात्रो) is the lunisolar Hindu calendar used in Nepal for both civil and religious purposes. The year begins in the month Baishakh; usually around 14 April.[1]
The official Nepali calendar follows Bikram Samwat, abbreviated B.S.[2]
The B.S. year is 56.7 years ahead of the (western) Gregorian Calendar. The Gregorian year 2000 AD began 17 Poush 2056 and ended 16 Poush 2057.
Every month is divided in:[3]
Krishna Paksha "dark fortnight", the 15 days between the full moon and the new moon.
Shukla Paksha "bright fortnight", the 15 days between the new moon and the full moon.

.....:)

And then there's Nepal Standard Time, which is offset 15 minutes (or 45 minutes) from the typical time zones in the world.

(You can google "Nepal time" and see that this is true for the current time in Nepal when compared to the local time wherever you may be in the USA or Europe).

The dome looks like they wanted a dome at first but then chickened out and made a bunch of compromises. But hey with a tank... What model are they talking about?
The Pyramid looks more refined but I don't see the point (pun?) of the shape. Is there any advantage to a pyramid shape? I mean its easier to stack if you have blocks but it doesn't seem that they used Lego blocks.
Ndogshouse your drawing looks the best to me. :)
I'm sure your people know you well enough to know when you are joking and when not. Still they might be hoping you are joking even if they know better ;)

I didn't think he was joking. I'd dig a moat. That would be sweet.

Heck yeah I could use a Tank! Was it a Maus? Yeah...Always wanted a moat around my house. Heres what i was thinking?

Piranahs or alligators is the question?

Alligators sleep to often and could crawl out and hurt your own guys. Piranhas however always seem hungry and can't escape the water. Both species are sensitive to cold temperatures.
Who not fill the moat with mineral oil? If you ever need some for your many HI blades it's right there and if some attackers come you can set it on fire.
If you want to stick with water make sure it's dirty so that the attackers don't see the razor wires hidden just below the surface.

I'd put a bit more distance between the house and the moat. Less chance of undermining the house and you can go outside and wander around a bit and still be on the safe side of the moat.
Jens, razor wire just below the surface, your sneaky and maybe a tiny bit evil. I think we'd make good pards.

Razor wire is purely defensive unlike firearms or knives which can be used for attacking as well. So nothing sneaky or evil in my book.
Of course I would never do that since a kid might fall in. Even if its just a thieve trying to cross the moat its not worth the bad guy getting killed only because he wanted to steal ndoghouse's Kukris.
But then ndoghouse probably has his moat only for some unlikely zombie apocalypse scenario and then I think razor wire would be justified.
One of my buddies had a 1 inch cut in his biceps with one of these http://www.sahayogsteel.com/Style/images/RAZORWIRE.jpg (second pattern from top) Was just loading it on a tank, wearing proper gloves and protection but when lifting it up it got him. Mean stuff and makes normal barbwire look like kids toys :o

Your not as evil as I thought, too many soft spots. Anyone swimming the moat to steal doghouses kuk's deserves the razor wire.

In an earlier life back in my walking days I was a fence man. I've installed all those nasty wires. It's probably even nastier now days that back in the day but it was not fun. Prison environments alone were not much fun either. I don't miss that stuff at all.

The regular chain link fencing around houses and business's was work but a lot more fun that the barb wire/razor wire stuff.

I doubt very many would get to the moat anyhow what with the mine field and all. Perhaps I'm the evil one here.

The tank turret on top the house should deter them away! if not then they wont last very long in this life anyway. I believe a little natural selection will filter them from the gene pool eventually. I do need more space between the house and moat. Ill have to fix that. Need walking room and a wider ring. You guys are great! Help me design my house! It seems to have cooled down as far as crime rate around here since the fire. Criminals knew there were all kinds of new tools being purchased, building materials etc. so they were getting pretty brazen. Stealing in the daytime even. There were even people following delivery trucks and if no one was home they would help themselves immediately after delivery. The sheriff even told me that they had several people in the county jail who were floating down the river on tubes during the fire to vandalize people who just evacuated. The sad thing about it was that these people were not locals. They actually plan all this stuff when they hear about it and travel from out of state. They were professional criminals. It is these people I don't think Id have a problem pulling the trigger on if they were making off with my property.
The moat would be cool but me being the DIY kind I don't know if I could pay someone $100,000 to do that job so we will see how long my bones last? The ring is definitely going up tho. We used to have a problem finding a sunny spot to plant a garden or whatever but now is the opposite. There is no shade anywhere. Will have a pool also. That's some gnarly razor wire btw. I always wondered how it was installed. I can see some guy in one of them police K9 training suits in the hot sun in my head trying to install that stuff!

i picture a reinforced concrete curtain wall around the inner side of the meters (yards) deep moat. the wall will have elevated firing slits (on an inner covered firing step) spaced to cover the approach. towers with firing slits to cover both the approach and the face of the wall. a retaining the rear of the firing step can be furthe protected with a wall on the inner side in lieu of a guard rail to protect from shots from the far side, or splinters from mortar shells/rpgs. wall outside the moat just below the level of the wall/tower slits of the inner wall. the dirt/rock/etc. excavated from the moat is sloped down from the top of the outer wall outwards to ensure no blind spots for attackers to hide from the firing slits. also protects against direct fire at the base of the walls. barbed wire entanglements at 50, 100 yds., etc. to assist in adjusting your sighting picture. the view from afar will just see the portion of the wall rising above the level of the outer retaining wall, and no cover for their approach. surprise surprise when (if) they actually reach the moat and see it's water level meters (yards) below and a correspondingly high curtain wall if they get thru the razor wired moat (razor wire is stainless steel by the way). a final 2 meter (7ft.) chain link fence topped with barbed or razor wire around the extreme periphery, with appropriate warning signs for insurance purposes. don't forget to add one that says 'caution, may contain nuts'. :) a gate house and drawbridge, murder holes, portcullis, etc. i leave to your imagination.

here's one we prepared earlier: a dome house would be perfect for the centre.

Hey Kronk...Need a job? Thats perfect! Have to do something with all the moat dirt anyway. The way things looking with our government I might need it sooner than later? Drive right in the house is cool! Need something to prevent catapulted rancid bovines from being tossed into the perimeter. Big tesla coil on top with lightning arcing to the outer fence would probably deter a few if the signs dont:D. There was a guy in australia who did that around his house. There is a vid on youtube somewhere ill see if I can find it later.

you'll need a large solar power array to power that tesla coil. an electric fence takes surprisingly little power, farmers use car batteries to power theirs for days on end. it's the voltage, not the current. i've never peed on one, but i know it is not a good idea. had a terrier/poodle cross once. he did it - once - who says you need to repeat so they learn. once was enough. and he was an old dog. 'nother myth busted. i didn't know he could yelp that loud or run that fast, after the stream stopped & the current also stopped, of course.

for an anti-cow barrier, you can rig netting from the central tower to the outer wall. the pitch will let them roll off into the moat (hopefully feeding your moat monster, once you find a good one.

for a full blown defence, try a vauban fortification: here's one in holland somewhere -they really bothered the spanish. about the only way to conquer one was by siege & starving them out.note the windmill pump to keep the central area dry. the dutch had a habit of flooding the surrounding area when the enemy got a bit too comfortable.

next, i'll try to suggest a good moat monster. cold winters make that interesting. (heated moat?)

i was going to suggest siberian tigers & a DEEP dry moat, but that would be expensive and even in kevlar armour they could be shot too easily. how about box jelly fish in a heated moat?

another candidate:

Time to bring this thread back up! Guess Tika is busy about now? Im off today from work. I got "furloughed" one day a week till further notice. Again! Expected tho. I usually get layed off around Christmas time every year. Sounds like its time for a new job! Seems some of the big companies like Apple are bringing some techie jobs from China back to the US so maybe it time for me to move on?
