blowing in 100 degree air....enough of this BS! I am officially ready for fall even if it means all the bikini's down here disappear. Downside to everything I guess...

I just left my shop. It must be up to 75 degrees. Up until this week the highs for the day would barely reach 60 degrees. Its nice having some decent weather for a change.

Up here near Memphis we have a new invention. It's called "air conditioning."

Been close to 100 almost every day this week. 40 people coming over tomorrow for a BBQ. Forecast is 98-99. Looks like most of them will stay in the house. Luckily there is lots of room.

I hate the heat, but its a double whammy with the mosquitoes, because you cant even take your shirt off to cool off

Yea it's 90 something here during the day. Talk about fun when sanding handles (I use the shoeshine method) or even better yet try spinning handles on the surface grinder for an hour at a time.

Been running 100-112 here...

currently a "cool" 87 degrees outside... I am beginning to consider sleeping during the day and working in the shop at night this summer.

Wait. I have something to add. What makes the heat even worse is when you work on shaping, drilling, counterboring, fitting, more shaping of folder scales and only after you spent probably 5 hours doing all this in the heat when you put everything together for a dry fit to function check do you realize that the scales are too short and the back radius of the pivot is exposed when you close it! Oh, broke another 2-56 tap, and a #50 bit.

I get to make another jig tomorrow. In the heat. I hate figuring chit out the hard way...

And you should try FORGING in that temp...
I drank (and sweated immediately thereafter) three bottles of water.
Electrolites integrators are indispensable.
Well, air conditioning would be even better :D

Yes. Even if I believe, without going too far out on the echological branch, that using air conditioning in a room with a lit coal forge is just a way to waste energy and money without much of a result. ;)
Grinding is another matter, though.

Ya gotta air condition the shop. Will be the best spent money. Spend all that money on tools and then try to work in 100 degree heat? :jerkit:

In recent years our weather has really changed. We had an unusual warm start to the spring, but this summer is a repeat of the last few which have been cold and wet.

Its only 11 celcius or 52 F, put on the woodfurnace (again) What gives? 5 years in a row of cold and wet, however, at least we will not be getting any fires in the near future, unless things really dry out.

In the meantime, cheaper power bills with the AC sitting strangely quiet- again for the 5th year.

Get your shirt and hair wet and stand in front of the fan (I like a soggy boonie hat for this purpose). And most importantly, Enjoy the Bikinis. Life can be annoying if you don't remember to forget the stuff that isn't important;)

I did that yesterday! Working a 16lb billet too. There's nowhere to hide from the heat with 16lbs of 2000F+ thermal mass right in front of you...

On a good note, my new (to me) press is working great! On my smaller (1 1/2"x3"x6") billets I work one heat after welding and I'm ready to cut and fold. I took a billet from 13 layers to 208 layers in about an hour and a half yesterday... :)

That only works out there in the desert....Try that with 70-85% humidity and you'll just be steaming...Did I mention I live across the street from a reservoir?

I'm going to try to wet my hair and shirt, and get my wife to stand in my shop with her bikini on....perhaps that will help.

It is freekin HOT here in Athens GA, I feel yall!!! My sister is really looking into moving to Oregon next year. If it wasnt for my family, the mortgage, and the time i spent wiring my shop.lol.- I would be gone to. Atleast ill have somewhere to go on my summertime visit--but wait a minute--Doesnt oregon get its fare share of heated misery???--I lived in connecticut ( in my memory it never got as hot as it does now- if it did it was a 5 day heat wave then it would pass), i lived in Europe, spent time up and down the west coast, and ended up in Georgia so that i can get a rest at my father in laws-and never left.. I really love Athens but im still getting used to the heat. Last year was not this bad.--Thanks-marekz
