It's because the thread those images are located in is locked. If the thread is locked, it will not allow you to delete the images.OK, just made it through deleting 2022 attachments.
Now there's a problem; there is a full page of attachments I cannot delete (no trash can) so now you have to scroll down the page, hit next page, then delete, then you're back on the first page, then repeat. Cripes
Only 21 more pages to go; can I get some help from a mod to delete the images I can't?
Blues ?

And just a heads-up; you have to be below both attachment count AND storage space to post another attachment.

Click on your Username at the top right of the page, then click "Attachments". At the bottom right of that page, it will show the number, your quota, along with the disk space alloted/quota. BOTH have to be under the limit! What does this mean? How do you know your "storage space" and how does one reduce it?
After you click on attachments scroll to the bottom and on the right it shows number of images and space taken up by those images. What does this mean? How do you know your "storage space" and how does one reduce it?
See my post # 96 0n page 5 above. Might help with the delete process for everyone. IF the PAGE is UNLOCKED.![]()
That the quotas weren't set properly isn't your fault, however as said previously there has always been stated limitations for image hosting with paid subscriptions. I'm not penalizing y'all for going over the quota limits because that's my fault. The quyota limits are in place now, however, and if you are over you won't be able to upload more until a better solution is in place or you delete existing images.
And Spark explained that he hadn't set the limitation on volume properly...leading to an overload...
The point is you've been getting MORE than you paid for, for years.Already understood, but not really my point.

It's not opinion. The paid memberships had a stated direct image posting limit. That is what we all paid for. Now, since it wasn't being enforced, we were able to post more than the amount we paid for. I'm not dictating anything for you. Just explaining the actual situation. If you thought it was otherwise, I'm sorry, but it doesn't change the facts. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, my friend. But don't presume to dictate for me.
But I'll stay out of this thread now, until there is clarity.
I think it's a shame that some here are rushing into deleting pics in order to be able to post pics directly again. If nothing changes and the limits remain, as seems likely, y'all will have to keep doing that going forward as you continue to add photo attachments.
I've had a Gold, then Platinum, membership here from early on but used Imgur up until August '22 as I was used to it. I've been posting by attachment since and now have accumulated 2099 in 18 or so months, so I'm way over the limit thatSpark didn't configure properly. He's stepped up and accepted the blame for our current situation. That doesn't mean that he can keep offering photo hosting here by continually buying, and having to charge for, more server space. It's definitely not sustainable. If a yearly limit is set it still continues the problem--just stretches it out a bit more.
I'm here for the sharing, the knowledge, the community, and, yeah, especially the pics--they're kinda the glue that holds it all together here. If you keep deleting your older pics, a valuable resource and the institutional history of this place fades away. I'm not a fan of Imgur and other photo hosting services, but I would suggest we leave our pics intact and all go back to using photo sharing hosts--many here still do despite paid memberships. That would hold everything in place as Spark figures out how to proceed. If he takes out Exchange pictures over two years old, that gives a little wiggle room for non-visual attachments and the backlog of other thread pics stays intact.
I'm still willing to pay for all the other perks--including, but not limited to no ads--and to help support what's the best knife resource on the web. I would counsel patience, a bit of understanding, and keeping as much of what's here already intact while Spark, the mods, and the rest of us figure out a new path forward. Being rash or pissed off doesn't solve a thing and maybe just hastens the loss of something good.
