Too many knife nuts?

The worst is when you're in a field that uses knives, like Technical theater and you'd expect knife nuts, but everyone carries Gerber :( and maglite :(:( Or some really hoopty autos. I keep my friends well-supplied, my roommate carries a spyderco Merlin and my neighbor has a brand new byrd crossbill, my girlfriend has a spyderfly. :)

I HATE THAT!!!!

"ooooh, my gerber is the best becaust I can open it with one hand". My boss has gone through three gerber sport's in three years. but I'm still using my same Leatherman.

Then you forget that, even though these people are technically minded, they don't know jack about proper use of tools, and start to pry something with the chive you just handed them.

P.S. I can damn well open my leatherman with one hand too:grumpy:

I'm pretty lucky- my girlfriend carries a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian, and one of my friends bought a custom from Brian Goode because he liked mine. :thumbup:

I have a few friends that aren't idiots when it comes to knives, but most people i know dont EDC one. However, only my ex and her mom would ever freak out when I whipped out a knife. The funny thing is, they both have this wierd 'dull kitchen knives are safer' thing going on, and I have even explained to them how dumb that is...
<shrug>
People usually know to get me if something needs to be cut, or their knife needs to be sharpened! :-D

Most of my friends go to the mall and get the $9.99 no-brand knives. They think this is better than buying a quality knife, because they can abuse the hell out of it and go pick up another one whenever.

Eventually though, they'll spend $50-100 on shitty knives, and all along they could have had a nice Benchmade or something. I try not to lend out my knives too much, as they will be used as pry bars or dropped repeatedly.
This is especially true with balisongs. Mall knife shop carries a ton of crappy balis, not a single name brand in the bunch. My GF's lil' bro bought one and after a week or so of use the paint is peeling/chipping, its incredibly loose, etc. I'm scared he'll be flipping it one day and it will just fly all apart on him.

A few of the guys I work with can't even close my Buck folder. They see the fingernail slot to open it, but can't figure out how to close it. So they just hand it back to me open haha. I lend out my Buck Prince at work because the tip is already chipped/snapped and I just don't care anymore.
