Top 20 knife recomendations by BladeForums

Nice idea for a thread, but it shouldn't be sticky. There are several methods to search the forums with for people looking for "top" knife recommendations.

I am sure that given the intended uses, we could go through the old threads and archives and compile data to actually know the top 20 recommended knives in category. The numbers are there, it will just take a lot of work -maybe a Mod will be up to it:D

I would like to know the #1 recommended knife on bladefourms regardless of category...

Well shoot! Why didn't you ask that in the first place?

CRK Sebenza followed by a Spyderco Military / Paramilitary. Those are the best production knives, as voted. Probably pretty close to most recommended too.

Thanks, best production folder is different from most recommended though. That poll did not even have the tenacious/ or any fixed blades... I am sure those would be some major contenders though.

True. However, they do get recommended quite a bit. Top ones off my head (for folders) would be Sebenza, Military, Tenacious, Leek, Ram, ZT2/30X. Fixed blades generally run with a RAT knife or one of the Bussekin knives.

i think that if this is going to be done, it needs to be heavily categorized. The evaluations for the knives could be price (0-50, 50-100, 100-200, etc), blade size, general weight/feel (light, medium, heavy), and type (slipjoint, locking folder, neck fixed, full fixed) each resulting category would be voted upon for top ten knives recommended in that category. the end result would be a chart of recommended knives so that newbies, and more experienced knife nuts as well, could quickly get an idea of what knives come recommended by the members of bladeforums within specific categories.

1. Spyderco delica G10. At near $100 dollars this is my most used and also my favorite knife. I think this is the best knife for the $$$. Its my #1 Go to knife.
2. CRK sebenza. Over $330 at the base is kinda high for some. But after you have one you see why its called the best. Aside from the price this is the ideal knife.
3. Benchmade ritter grip. A great knife near $100. This knife seems to be good in many tasks. The only thing I didnt like was there is always a little blade play with axis locks, the handles are horible on my jeans, and never take it apart if you dont have some time on your hands.
4. CRK Umnumzaan. Also high priced but a very good knife. Similar to the sebenza but I didnt like it as much.
5. Spyderco delica SS. Same thing as the G10 model but a little less harsh on the jeans. This is a very slim knife I normaly keep in my backpack.
6. Strider SNG. I liked this knife a lot but it was a little to tactical for me. Im not a police officer or in the army. I know it sounds dumb but I kinda felt like a poser.
I know you asked for 20, but 6 is all the must haves I can think of right now. Hope my super 6 help.

Here's the most recommended individual knives in this thread, with number of mentions

9 Delica
7 Griptilian
7 110
7 Sebenza (assumed regular/large)
6 Izula
6 Endura
6 Military
6 Tenacious
4 BK7
4 710
4 SNG
3 Leek
3 Manix 2
3 Skyline
3 Kabar USMC
3 Mini-griptilian

I barely even own 20 but I will list what I consider worthy.

Rat Izula- no explanation needed IMO.

Scrap Yard scrapper 5- Great size and weight for camping, self defense, belt carry, strong, excellent handle.

Kershaw leek- great quality, a joy to open..... and close, and open and close and open.

Spyderco Caly3 carbon fiber- all around pocket folder perfection with a high end steel for just over $100.

Tramontina machete- for 5-10 dollars it's a must have.

Anything from Andy Roy (Fiddleback Forge).

Leatherman skeletool cx- functions just like a pocket folder plus you get 4 screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, bottle opener and a carabiner. Caution, this tool will make all your other pocket folders obsolete which is quite depressing.

Also close to making the list, Spyderco meerkat (wouldn't get rid of it for any other knife), Sog seal revolver (knife + saw). I'll also add the Ka-bar USMC which I don't yet own but plan to one day.
