Top 5 Production Knife Manufacturers

I've yet to have a problem with or a complaint about my Benchmades (love my new 921)...can say the same about my Spydercos (although one of my Chinooks has lock that is a little hard to operate).

The only Microtech I have is a Black Marlin but it is the finest fish fillet knife I've ever used.

I have owned several A.G. Russell knives and they have been consistently high quality.

And I love the Queen Cutlery Company...(especially their ATS34 S&M's and Robesons.)

I have left Chris Reeve Knives out because, though they are high quality knives, they are outrageously overpriced.

In no particular order:

1. Camillus...great innovative designs, excellent quality, reasonable prices, and a variety of choices unequaled by anyone in the industry. They cover virtually all bases from traditional to tactical.

2. Queen...they make the finest production slipjoints in the greatest variety of anybody.

3. Spyderco...pioneers in design and one of the first companies to build knives with edge geometries you didn't have to reprofile as soon as you got them.

4. Buck...an American classic, an icon, acompany that has conducted themselves with integrity. They gave us the first true tactical design, the 110.

5. William Henry...they have raised the bar in production knife quality, and carved out a niche market for themselves. Top materials, great designs, flawless execution.

I think Schrade has to have an honorable mention for building a quality knife for a rock bottom price.

1.Fällkniven AB
They make the best stainless knives above all other manufacturers when it comes to true working knives. They are the always razor sharp right out of the box and they use my favorite stainless steel VG-10.There are no strange things or hypes in their designs. Pure workhorses they all are!
2.Cold Steel
Even though i don´t like their current downgrades of steel in many of their new products, the still made products in the AUS steels and the Carbon V steels are still outstanding. The Voyagers are my absolutely best folding knives.
3.BUCK
I like their classic designs like the 119 and the Folding hunter, and i think Buck are fairly priced. They are not overpriced like many other brands.
4.SOG
Cool and nice combat knives! I especially like their models in the SK-5 carbon steel, like the Sog bowie. The Flash knives seems to be winners. I am thinking about buying the smaller Flash knife.
5. Gerber
Not so mouch for their new products, but rather for the old no longer made knives like the BMF and the Mark 1. I think they should reintroduce the Mark 1 again, but with a finer steel this time.

how about the guys of Seki Japan? Who do you think makes a lot of Spydercos, Al Mar's, and SOGs?

I know perfectly well that many knife companies knives are made in SEKI CITY in Japan. All Fällknivens knives are made in Japan. For example, all Cold Steel stainless knives are made in Taiwan or Japan. The same goes for SOG knives. All their stainless knives, except for the Flash series, are made in SEKI CITY JAPAN.
Hattori,Moki,Sanetsu and Hiro are some of the largest manufacturers for American brands, that many belive are made in USA,just because the companies names is American.

But it´s nothing wrong with that. Japanese knifemakers and manufacturers are among the absolut best and highly skilled in the world. Check out and look at the knives that are offered there. Many are true master pieces! www.sekidirect.com

1. Spyderco: Quality, variety, innovation. Mouse and Kiwi to Gunting and Civilian.

2. Camillus: Quality, variety, value. Stockman to Maxx. BK7 to OVB Fisk.

3. Victorinox: Quality, value, utility. The original pocket toolbox and in some ways still the best.

4. Buck: Value, Quality. Strider and Mayo projects have brought Buck into the 21st century without losing a fine tradition.

5. Benchmade: Quality, innovation, fit and finish, materials. A good company leapfrogs the competition with the Axis lock.

Victorinox - Good overall quality at a great price. Also very versatile.

Buck - 110, very hard working that competes well with knives 3 times the price.

Camillus - Becker line. Great fixed blades at a price thats fair.

CRKT - Another company that gives you a lot of knife at affordable prices.

AG Russell - I know he is a dealer, but also has knives made under his name. Good quality and without a doubt the best warranty in the business.

1. Fallkniven. Exelent, just exelent.

2. Puma.

3. Gerber.

My no 2 and 3 is based on knifes I bought year ago.

4. Viktorinox. Always equal good quality. Extraordinary for that small $$$.

5. Benchmade. Fine quality but hard to find a model that makes a real good user for hunting and edc.

1. CRK

NEVER NEVER NEVER Criticize the 921 Switchback!

Just kidding. I understand that it's not for everyone.

My top five are:

Benchmade, Spyderco, Schrade, Boker, Cold Steel

I don't get out much,

1.Chris Reeves Knives -Great Attention to Detail. I like that they are adding some new graphics for the decorated Sebbies.

2.Microtech -Awesome designs and built solid. They need to take some business classes and quit screwing around with there product line though.

3.Cutter Knife & Tool -(I don't own one yet, or they might have made it higher, I have handled one and fell in love) A sleek D/A frame lock with titanium scales, how could you not love them??

4.Masters of Defense -Nice designs and attention to detail (Excluding a couple newer models)

5.Al Mar -The Sere 2000 and Osprey are responsible for these guys pushing Benchmade out of the number 5 slot. Great execution!!
