Top ten comfy knives.

JJ---Did you ever work with a Sodbuster?? :)
Or an Opinel 8?

The benchmade mini grip fits my hand perfect as does the 710.
I'm also a fan of the ergos on the delica 3/salt 1. Didn't care for the Caly 3 ergos. I thought the choil was to shallow. The UKPK is MUCH more comfortable in my hand. Wish they made that one with a lock. I also find the Caly Jr. to have better ergos than the #3.

Never really noticed them before, I guess at $15 it couldn't hurt to pick one up. Looks like it would fit in the same range as the Endura, or Buck 110.

Hmm, deeper choil on the UKPK, apparently they're really light too.
For now I'm happy with the Caly, but if the UKPK ever gets a high end version (S90V or similar) I would be forced to pick one up.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, it's given me a little more to think about in regards to what I look for in a knife.

Because the lock wears out too fast and the steel has poor edge retention.

Don't they use 154CM? That's not a :thumbdn: steel by any means. Don't have one, and probably never will, so I can't compare.

I was just taking a couple of my more reclusive (Read: not used much, not rare ones or anything) Spyderco's out to play with, and I'm surprised that the Assist isn't on that list. It's got a big comfy handle on it. Almost feels like it was made for the hand. The back curves a bit too. I love the feel of it, but it's a little thick to edc.

I too am going to praise Kershaw's JYDII. I have one in my pocket as i type;)

However, the hands down most comfortable folder for ME is the Gerber Gator. Chunky yet grippy and is quite comfortable to use for extended time, I have yet to find a folder i enjoy holding so much.

When they first came out I thought they were the funkiest things I'd ever seen visually but once I had one mailed to me for work I realized I missed the boat on it because what my hand saw and what my eyes saw were two different things. The Dodo by Spyderco has to be one of the best hand fitting knives to come out in my lifetime. My hands just love that little knife!

There are many that look great but when you get them they are anything but great in the hand. The idea that a folder or fixed blade has to have all the grip finger grooves carved into it or shaped such that it supposedly lets the hand form fit to it better or looks like something futuristic and space aged is not always accurate. This was why at first the Dodo made me laugh. Still though the Dodo is only comfortable in that one grip that locks your hand in to just that one style of working with the folder. Try to work with it upside down like others, which is a real world occurance and you find its not so comfy anymore.

As a result one of the most useful and all around comfortable designs of all time, at least in my mind is still the tried and true straight Puukko design http://www.worldknives.com/types/scandinavian-knives-12.html
which I liked and how my thought processes were going when choosing my own folder design to run with for my forum when I started it. The EDC by Joe Caswell is one I just bought and I find it to be one of the best fitting more comfy knives I've bought in 2008. I also ordered and recieved the Martin Knives "Tejas" and found it to be comfortable also and along the same traditional 'Puukko' lines but unfortunately it had some lock problems and I returned that one but otherwise on that one issue for the folder sent to me it was a comfortable folder. Of course I like my Ouparator for these same reasons also but I'm kind of bias. ;)

STR

STR, I agree with you. I think it's important to EDC a knife that can be versatile in many grips. That is one reason why I love my small regular sebenza so much. The simple, straight handle design allows many comfy grips. Pukkos are a great design too! The skookum bush tool is the most comfortable knife I have ever held along with the simple mora.
