Top Ten Observations To Date

im not of the opinion that i or we have to justify why we buy, what we buy, or prove the worth of a busse, or any knife.

if he is convinced they are of value, fine. if not, who cares?

i have been helped here by many in many ways, i have helped others when i could. i have never considered myself as one of a 'priveleged few' and dont believe i have to defend the practices of the company or how i am able to get what i get.

i look, spend, trade, sell, buy, ask, and stay up late trying to get what i want. sometimes i win, sometimes i am left emptyhanded.

i no longer accept the complaint of : "i would like to try a busse, but dont want to pay the prices or cant get one at the store."

do what the rest of us do. order from the main site, or wait for the deal you want to come along.

or stay away.

Ruh Roh! My attitude is pretty good but my mentality is questioned on a daily basis!!!! . . . Nothing that a little scotch can't cure though!!!

Welcome to the forum Cheetah Speed!!!

Pour yourself a drink and stick around for a while. . . If you don't want to stick around then how about pouring me a drink??? :D

Jerry

Jerry! You're alive! Are my emails getting stuck in your spam filter again? :D

Thanks for the time, effort and constructive feedback put into your response!!

It still remains to manifest itself in my view that an individual purchase a number of knives from the Busse Company Store and sell them to someone looking for one at ZERO (0) profit. I do see lots of sales that are at substantial markup due some madeup story about needing cash and the same individual posting wanted to buys and I'll take its. This appears to me to be more common among Busse Combat knives than other brands.

Then again, I am not able to hang out here 24 hours a day to know this for sure. In fact, my time is limited at best and thus do the best with what time I do have.

supply and demand. if i have it, and others want it, why should i not make a profit? if my margin is too high, it wont sell.

Great attitude.

Let me add these posts to the reasons that I just might stay away. :thumbdn:

Like I said, post in the WTB forum or get your friend who is into Busse to keep an eye out for you. Who is your buddy any way? We can help him keep an eye out for something for you if you let us know what it is.

CS, I have sold several at a personal loss and given a few away, just as many folks here have done. It isn't the good ole boy system , it is just helping out friends. Stick around and you will certainly see the generosity of the posters here. It not only stops with blades but anything anyone needs...we come together to help.

there does seem to be an "Old Guard" here, but the separation is mostly due to the new line being introduced. It was so different from the older Busse's that it seemed to introduce a whole new collector to the mix.

Before the "Fusion" juggernaut, there was the E line. A very basic, no nonsense line of knives based on perfomance and ergonomics first, looks were secondary. We could get a SHe for 300, sell it for 300 all day. Used Busse's didnt lose much value, only the GFD's and variants were priced out there. I came into the mix at the ending of the Straight Handle phase, an even more basic knife. Those of us that have collected and used Busse's during both the Straight Handle and E-handle times are kind of looked at as the "Old Guard" or Old Hogs if you like. :p And most of us have been watching this whole thing with the new knives with much surprise at how big this Busse phenomenon has gotten, and how many new people it has brought in. It is truely awe inspiring, and a little disturbing in some respects (ie the resell issues) .

So yea, theres a herd of old tuskers wandering around, grumbling to themselves about the "old days" and wondering where the next slop will hit and how much fat that will shave off the ol hips. They look grumpy, and may squeal loudly at times, but for the most part they're a nice bunch. :)

7. We don't have a chance to hold it before we buy it....so if it doesn't fit, then it goes to the trough. Sometimes you have to sell one to get one....not everyone here is a millionaire.

6. A persons business is their own...noone is forced to buy one from anyone.

1. I am not sure what you mean with this one.....I am buying the knife...it is about what I like. These are HARD use knives...some folks collect them, some folks buy them to use them....please explain further.

Buy one and see what it is all about.

7. Going through the so called trough is a little different in my opinion than leaving the house for some profit.

6. It is this type of attitude that seems to prevail amongst the Busse community. The attitude of I shall take advantage of anyone willing to pay me is the type of thing that comes out in this for me.

1. It is about the certain posts that state things like I will only take XX blades in YY quantities for my super special one of a kind blade which I paid less than a tenth in value compared to what I want. Sorry, it is getting late and my diplomacy is starting to fade.

Thanks.

T-minus 10 minutes for FOB to chime in and say I am the culprit, and call me a tool.

T-minus 20 minutes for FOB to bump his own sale thread. =)

am i the only one a little irritated with the malcontents who havent been around long enough to actually know what is going on?

I might need to start paying attention to your posts more often.

Thanks for the heads up, honesty and level headed response!!

I might hit you up in the future with some questions or for some pointers or general guidance if it is OK. If it is a pain or too much trouble, no worries.

#6

People are too eager to buy a knife the first time they see it,,,and unfortunatly pay a premium.....patience is the key, make a few friends wait a while and all blade will come to you for a decent price. If someone is willing to pay 2x what you paid for something are you going to turn them down.....if the community feels the price is too high it won't sell, also a PM to the person sometimes helps. Most folks are willing to help and work with you if you contact them on a one on one basis. You can't hold it against folks for trying to get the most out of a blade.

cheetah, your first post is basically a list of complaints. then you are surprised by my reaction?

At first glance, I might have agreed with most of the 10 observations. But, I've been here a couple posts or so.
I've had offers that I have nightmares over passing up. Offers given by HOGs and piglets. I recently had a newer player, and one hell of a Collector/user/HOG and friend in the making send me a blade, knowing he wouldn't get paid for several months. He got paid. I don't sell anything I have for profit, only to move onward and upward. We share here. We trade here. We try to get each others INFI here, um, just joking, right guys?
There is an undercurrent here, but it feels like comraderie to me. I'm opinionated, wordy and generally unapologetic about my many defects. It has been met with great welcome, mild interest or straight out ignoring. But, always with respectful attitudes. And there is always an admiration for anything Jerry Busse brings to the table for us own, post and brag about. You don't see a 1966 Cobra owner that would shirk the duties of showing that beauty off, right? Yep, it's like a club. As a starter, you join by getting a chunk of INFI, then you take pics, then you use it or put it in a safe, then you come here and post about it. It moves on from there, look at some of the posts from guys with things going on in their lives. Look at all the responses. We are a brother/sisterhood! Don't let anything taint your ideas further, until you have a handful of INFI.;)

(see, I told you. Wordy. )

again, why should i have to convince you, or anyone to stay?

Thanks for the clarifications. I do not recall asking you or anyone to convince me of anything. I also do not recall stating I was surprised by your reaction. It is exactly your responses that provides further clarification to me of the attitude and mentatility that keeps me away.

Thanks for taking the time to respond and please do not get offended if I chose not to respond any further to your posts.

Shut up and go make a sheath :D :p BTW, I am thinking I may hit you up on an IWB holster. Need to save up my money ;)

then whats the point of all this?

and i dont get offended. defensive, sure, but not offended.

Life's too short, knives sharp enough and liquor wet enough that I don't need to battle or argue or deal with anger or misery. If people find something they'd like to take part in, cool. This world is getting uglier these days and it gets old.

Ouch! KAAK, you whipper snapper, you had better watch that with an old tusker like Leatherman, you might get the tusk. :)

Dwayne we ought to have a meeting of the bearded old tuskers at Blade this year, what do you say? You, me and Strabs ought to cover that category. :D
