I want to buy a busse knife for every day and for work. I'd like a blade under 5" long. Been really confused by all the knives on the for sale forum. So far I like the meaner street, the active duty, the game warden, and the street scrapper4. It seems like every knife on the sale forum is brand new in the sheath as it came from Busse. I've yet to see a beat up knife. What gives? Does anyone use these things, or are they just collector pieces. I want a hard working knife. In guns, I have a Glock, a Saiga AK, and an 870, which are all no nonsense, working weapons. Is a busse the same thing or is it more of a wilson combat? Also, being that I'm new to Busse and looking for one knife only, what would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Brian, first of all welcome to the madness. My most carried EDC is a TAN/TAN Meaner Street. A real work horse for it's size. Feels so good in the hand. Can use it to cut the steel blanks that other makers use to make blades. It's fairly thick, but plenty sharp. I very seldom carry a folder anymore, with this one available.

BTW, I also have GWs, Leaner Streets, Active Duties, and a Strert Scrapper. All fine blades, but I like the Meaner best.

Good Luck and let us know wgat you decide.

I would recommend an Active Duty. The recently released Boney AD's are excellent slicers, but they are so thin (especially at the tip) that I wouldn't want to do much prying with one. If you can find one of the older saber ground AD's, you'll have a tank of a knife

Most of the Busses on the exchange are in mint condition because people tend not to sell their users. You become more attached to a knife you've used and had fun with than one that's been lying in a safe or hanging on a wall. So when it's time to sell, safequeens are often the first to go. That's what I think anyway.

What are you talking about ???
Plenty of folks beat the chit out of their Busses you need to look a little harder.:)

Hey mate welcome to the shenanigans! You're yet to see a beat up Busse knife??? I flog mine all the time. I use it everyday in fact, mainly to cut up bones and stuff for my dogs, but I also use it around my property for anything that needs cutting/chopping/clearing or whatever.

You won't be sorry you decided to buy a Busse knife, they're everything they're cracked up to be. There's heaps of different models and designs around to suit what you want/need.

Yes there's a hell of a lot of safe queens around too, but don't be afraid to beat them, they will take it. They will most likely break you before you break it. ;)

Welcome!!!

Welcome Bryan !

Advice: Run while you can ! :D

+1 on what G19G26 said, the Meaners are great EDC. My first Busse was a Leaner Meaner and it's still my favorite.

Saiga AK huh, me too, my favorite ranch gun a real hoot to shoot !

I prefer the larger Busse's for hard use but all, regardless of how 'pretty' they are, will serve as hard use knives.

OK, This last pic of the BATAC knife is a photochop... ;)
But... they will hold up to almost anything you can possibly dish out. :D:thumbup:

Bryan, some guys buy extras and wind up selling them when they need an INFI fix. That's one reason you see a lot of new knives on the Exchange.

Plenty of folks use their Busses, however. All of these knives are Busses I've used--some lightly, some hard.

The knives hold up to abuse very well, and should you ever manage to damage one, there's not a better warranty out there. Of the the knives you mention, I probably like the AD the best. Just a great, all-around utility blade.

Ill just tell ya, you might as well plan on buying them all. If you get your hands on one, you will have to own the rest. Start slow, just buy the ones you can afford. Then start looking at ways to get money to buy the ones you cant afford...............its simply madness........madness i say!

My name is cartophilis, and i am an addicted to INFI...........
