Totally unacceptable auction exclusion!

A good guy doing a good thing for a guy who had his shop burn down doesn't deserve "that" amount of acrid pungent attack. Period.

Check yourself...

Exactly -- I'll be one of the many to stand behind Chuck.

Gee George, if I ever have anything up for trade or whaever, you will definately be on my list of "dont even bother dealing with this guy".

You really come off as a jerk...threatening an 18 year old (or anybody), are you proud?

It is evident that there has been a misunderstanding about the whole case. At first, credit must be given to all donors as well as the organizers of this auction. I never undermined neither the cause nor the people who serve this cause. It is surely an honorable thing.

Chuck Bybee presented clearly his point of view. I don’t have a need to provide word by word the conversation I have had with Chuck. I discard altogether the ridiculous notion about cajones for the honorable cause of the charity, which I cherished in the first place. I was lead to believe that international participations can be honored using a credit card and international shipments can be made (N.B. Check out with H.I. operating out of Reno NV). Let it be this way.

I hope this dispute will end up for the good of Raymond Richard. It's a shame a charitible event such as this has to go in this direction. Chuck is a good man as is doing this to help a fellow knifemaker in a time of need. I'm proud to be a part of this auction and this community. I hope this issue can be resolved.

I got Chuck's back. Stand up guy in every way possible.

Besides, it's not as much about anyone buying knives, it's about helping someone out.

Let's not forget the purpose of the auctions.

Chuck is one of the truly good guys who never hesitates to help someone in need. He does it simply because he TRULY is a good guy.

This guy George is way outta line here and owes chuck n apology, quickly!!!

Say you're sorry, learn, and move on. Chuck and Jessica should never have had to deal with the attitude. Calm discussion gets you further than threats to folks trying to help a friend out.

That's almost funny. What about that apology, if there "are" no cajones problems as you say.

This is a classic example of the entitlement mentality. George assumes he is entitled to participate in whatever auction he chooses. In his mind the seller's or auctioneer's right to determine his own set of rules for how the auction or sale is to be conducted is outweighed by his right as a buyer or consumer. His title "Unacceptable...Exclusion" says it all. If I had to guess I would say George is a product of government schools, if the Public Fool System in Greece is anything like our own. (Yes, I've earned the right to badmouth socialized education--I are a shining example of it myself.)

George, let me help fill in the gaps in your government edumacation. As a consumer, you have the right to walk away from any auction which has rules that are "unacceptable" to you and spend your money someplace else. You do NOT have the right to dictate the terms of someone else's auction. It's NOT YOUR AUCTION! I mean, who do you think should have the right to dictate the rules of the auction in question, the guy who created the auction, or you, just one of millions of unknown people around the world who has an internet connection, and who has nothing to do with this auction? Don't like the terms? Move on! Go spend your money somewhere else! There's your legitimate right as a consumer. Vote your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with your dollars (or Drachmae, or whatever)! Take your business somewhere else and teach that evil capitalist bastard Chuck a lesson! ;)

Chuck, I don't know you from Adam, but if you're half as cool as your avatar, you're okay in my book. I admire what you're doing to help out Raymond too. Just think, I'd have never known about all this if George here hadn't posted this crap in the Busse forum. The Lord works in mysterious ways. If He can use a guy like George from Greece then maybe there's hope for me.

I am in agreement with those that say that chuck has the right to set whatever rules he wants on his auction. If he only wanted it to be open to those that were born on February 29th, that would be up to him.

I hope us overseas buyers can still get stuff from US dealers after an incident like this!!

 Well said !

If an apology will alleviate the tension then, so be it. I don't wish something that started as a good cause, to help a fellow human in need, end with animosity and bitterness.
I hope this helps.

"so be it"

I'll have to try that one on the wife next time I screw up...

"But honey, I said 'so be it', now what do you want? LOL.

The guy said sorry eh kinda :D , so leave it at that and lets move on to better things.

I've seen more back-pedalling in his last two posts than Lance Armstrong did in the Tour de France! ;) Time to get back to our knives. :)

Tracking numbers on USPS only work when in our borders. You cannot track pa package internationally via USPS...this is different with UPS or Fed Ex

anyway..I second the nomination for Chuck as a stand up guy...who Sorry pal. but this is useless.

NEWS FLASH, yes you can and I get a lot of stock that I track using USPS.

You yanks are paranoid about International postage. I have lived all over the world and posted hundreds of items without a single loss or problem.

Paranoia is different that being burned and learning from mistakes. I also ship outside the US every week. That is a risk I make as a business owner. I've never had a single package lost.

However, there has been an expansion of credit card fraud occurring with shipments outside the US. The buyer can dispute the charge up to six months later. Unless the shipper can provide proof the package was delivered to the buyer the credit card company sides with the buyer. Since this was a charity auction I did not want to ask Ray for money six months after the auction was over. I've used USPS Global Express mail many times and the tracking is sporadic at best.

Thanks for the support everyone. The auction was a HUGE success. So far the total raised is $8,323 and this does not include the cash donations! We were given more knives are the show and we continue to receive items in the mail. After we finish unloading the truck and do inventory I will talk with Nick and Dave to determine when the next auction will occur. Thank again for the support. Knifemakers and knife collectors are the best people in the world!
