So I got a couple of edc knives. Spyderco delica endura with a wave kershaw skyline spyderco cat and cold steel law man. I know the lawman is a tough knife and can stand up to anything but I'm looking for a different lock then the triad lock. It's nice but it just doesn't do it for me I'm getting more and more into knives and I got to admit I'm getting more picky lol.

So I want something that's going to be tough and can stand up to any cutting tasks. I'm not going to baton with it or chop down any trees. Feather sticks or widdling maybe. A lot of thick plastic like the kind mattresses. I was thinking something like the spyderco military was going to get a paramilitary but they are hard to find right now so I kind of just decided to go else where. I was also looking at the zt 0350.

You guys got any other suggestions for around 125$. Maybe a little more depending on the quality or features of the knife but definitely no more then 200.

Zero Tolerance 0350 or 0200 are both really tough. Go on kershawguy.com, he has blems for cheap.

The ZT0350 would be a good choice. It is a tough little knife. My son loves his.

Also think about the ZT0300 series. Kershawguy has blems of the 300 and 301 on his site for prices under your max limit.

I carry a 301 daily and can attest it is indead tough as nails.

The ZT 0350 would be a great choice... but check out the new 0566, too. It's a little smaller/thinner than the 0350 (so I'd say it's even more pocket friendly), but you're not sacrificing blade length. If prefer a straight-edge blade design (0566) vs. a recurve (035), that'll make the call for you - both are great!

Idk I like the hinderer designs but the 0566 just doesn't do it for me. Something about a steel framelock for 145$ just feels weird. I'm not a frame lock fan but if I got one I would want ti just for coolness and that's out of my range for the most part.

It's hard to beat a Gayle Bradley in that price range for a 'tough as nails' knife

I've looked at it but I kind of worry about what I saw in jdavis video where he said there is no lock cutout. I have pretty thick fingers so I usually try to get something that's easy and comfortable to unlock. Any pictures or words of advice that can show me other wise?

I've no trouble unlocking mine, I'll agree it's not as easy as something with a huge cutout (such as the Military) but I certainly wouldn't say it's difficult.

It's probably not ideal for compulsively opening and closing but as far as actually using it I've nothing but good to say about it.

I've used mine a ton and put it through plenty of hard work and I'll vehemently recommend it to anyone who will listen.

I'll listen to your good words but the made in Taiwan definitely turns me off. Not for quality reasons but just because I don't agree with a company out sourcing things for cheapness but I don't want to start a heated argument or anything like that. Especially I think of Taiwan for cheap blades like cold steel and Ontario rat 1 not a 160$ high end production

I bet you haven't handle any thats made in Taichung yet.
Well you got a bunch that's tough enough for your application. Try ZT0500 or a Demko.
my guess is that Taichung or Japan needs to step up their game then. That means more for us Taichung lovers then.
:D:rolleyes:

There is a GOOD reason for that. Early CRK Umnumzaans were somewhat difficult for some folks to unlock, due to a rather small G10 cutout on the scale. The more recent version opened up the thumb access. Chris Reeve (and other manufacturers) will purposely do that in order to lessen the probability of an accidental unlock of the blade under a stress situation...involving torqueing of the grips.
This is usually reserved for knives that might be expected to be employed under a stressful (combat?) situation.
I have owned about seven or more Gayle Bradleys. It is one of my favorite Spyderco models. It is NOT difficult to unlock, in my experience.
There are two other models that I would suggest for heavy-duty work:
The Spyderco TUFF (in CPM-3V) available often in the Exchange for $190-$200 and...
the BenchMade Adamas 0275 folder in D2 steel...a great folder...can withstand whatever you throw at it...available new, of course, for $150 or so...or AS NEW often in the Exchange for $125 or so.
The Gayle Bradley is 3.5" blade of excellent CPM M4 steel.
The Tuff and the Adamas are close to 4" blades...both in excellent blade-steels.

Don't get me wrong I never said they were poor quality. I don't want to start any heated arguments per country of origin I would prefer to not buy Taiwan that's all. I have in the past but for this purchase i would rather not.

Was thinking about the BM 275 Adamas myself. Great lock, good steel, low ride pocket clip.......thr Adamas is made for tough!!

Honestly I'm leaning towards the 0350 even though I don't like assisted knives but I've never had a zt before and the design is nice. Also not sure about its size I've heard the handle is short witch would really be a deal breaker because I'm 6"3 and have wide hands.

Good answer, both of those knives will be more than adequate an have a long service life.

the handle is short. It's an ok knife otherwise.

That right there is a huge deal breaker. The endura handle is just about the right length for my hands. Ive noticed a lot of kershaws i have tried over the years have just ben uncomfortably handle small.

Sad because i was pretty close to purchasing that folder. Looks like the search continues.

Also for everyone recommending the axis lock, i absolutely just do not like that lock or any other ball bearing arc lock or similar mechanism. I got my finger chewed up twice once on a spyderco manix and once on a benchmade presidio because the lock didn't engage right when the knife had slick mud on it using it at the shore and free fell on my fingers. Nothing anyone will say will get me to make another knife purchase with those locks. I haven't had a liner lock or back lock fail like that yet.

Get CS Lawman or AK-47. Those are truly beaters.

Have a lawman i like it but its blade is kind of small and i always find myself catching on the choil if i don't choke up on it. Been thinking about an ak47 but the aus 8 just dulls so quickly. If they made a us produced cold steel with 154cm or s30 id 150 for it.
